Just a heads up - NYU only offers Early Decision (1 and 2) and you can only apply to one ED school. Something to keep in mind  good luck!

Hey, fazeeeeeeel! Thank you so much for responding.
I was going to go for NYU ED 2. I was also told by my GC that because M&T is a double major in two different schools, I am able to simultaneously apply to M&T and still be considered for Wharton itself for ea. What do you suppose my chances are at those three schools?

bump?

bump again? Any feedback would be really helpful.

Test scores are fantastic, GPA is probably a tad low. What is your weighted GPA? and have all of your other classes thus far been honors besides AP Euro? EC’s are great as long as you make them stand out in your essays, make them sound as specific as you can when applying to really selective programs such as Wharton.

Also, I’ve known people far less qualified than yourself get into Wharton so you have as much chance as anyone would with those caliber of schools

Hi, fflzataraa! Thank you for responding!
My school actually doesn’t offer honors courses so my only option is to take as many APs as I can. My school doesn’t do the weighted GPA, either. However, I am top 10% in the school. Do you think I should add more to my extracurriculars? If so, what type, specifically?

Great ECs, AMAZING test cores. GPA is a tiny bit low for Wharton but class rigor is high… Try to get that up as much as possible but you are definitely in pretty good shape!

You appear to be a bit cocky. Let me give you some examples:

  • You attend one of the "most prestigious" schools of New York. Let me guess. Stuyvesant or Bronx Science, right?
  • Guaranteeing a 5 on all your APs this year, when the exam itself is 3 months away
  • Taking AP chinese this year when you already took SAT II chinese and scored an 800. Why are you taking such classes if you've mastered chinese already? Are you of chinese ancestry? If so this is not impressive to me.

Your SAT scores and GPA will of course are within the range that the schools like. However your ECs don’t really stand out. What will your teachers write in your recommendations?

Sorry to be so harsh but you have to understand the context in which you will be viewed by Adcoms. Don’t be so brash about yourself and be a bit more humble.

Good luck

i agree with sgopal2 your ap Chinese ap test will not count for much as you are of Chinese anscetry, I would argue that it actually may look a little bad on ur part, but other than that and ur slightly low gpa everything is stellar and I think you can get into your dream colleges! good luck!

@whartonfreak You’ll probably get into NYU Stern and maybe Wharton due to low GPA. I’m also applying to Wharton next year and your profile looks a lot like mine. Hopefully we can both get in!

@sgopal2 I agree with you for the Chinese SAT 2, but I think her ECs are just fine, FBLA awards, app business, reseach, etc. Probably it’s the way she formatted them and minimal explanations for each ECs so it makes it look weak.

@whartonfreak AP Physics B was replaced by AP Physics 1 and 2 so I don’t understand how your are taking the course.

-Apply to Penn M&T ED
-You’ll either get accepted or deferred (I would be awestruck if you got flat out rejected)
-Apply to Stern RD (if deferred from Penn), do not apply ED II, as you probably do not want to commit to NYU because you’ll still have a chance at Penn
-You should get in to Stern RD (obviously have safeties, but I’d be surprised if you were rejected)
-M&T is a high reach because it’s just so selective, so I’d guess you’d get rejected from this (you have a great chance, but it’s insanely selective, but I’m rooting for you)
-You will automatically be considered for Wharton, which is still a reach (because it’s Wharton), but you have a good chance at it

—If you can, do some sort of business internship this summer, it will help—

Wow, thank you all for responding, you guys are all amazing!

@sgopal2 I do understand that these schools are highly prestigious and very difficult to get into and I appreciate your truthful commentary! I actually don’t attend Stuyvesant or Bronx Science haha and although I am Chinese, I have never attended school in China or Chinese school. I took the SAT2 Chinese just to receive another exam grade and AP Chinese to strengthen my GPA (it took a pretty bad blow in my sophomore year). As for those AP exams, I guarantee them only because I’ve committed a lot of work and effort to studying for them and my current grades should, if all goes well, reflect onto my AP score.

@qpqpqp It’s great to hear that you’re also applying! Hopefully we both get in next year :). My school actually still offers AP physics B and AP physics C except AP physics B has been separated into two sections; 1 and 2. Each section takes a year to complete. If i do well on the ap exam this year, I will most likely go straight into physics C.

@jamesjunkers‌ I’ll definitely be doing a business internship this summer. Thanks for the advice!

bumpp

We need to know your approx. class rank within your classvand your class size tovget more context and give you a more accurate assessment (although you should take what people say on these chances forums with a grain of salt).

Hey, @yikesyikesyikes‌, I actually don’t know my rank but my school is relatively small (350 people a grade small). I do know that my gpa is a tad low but I was hoping the amount of APs I’ve taken/am taking/will take and ECs would make up for it a bit.
