Chance Me / Give Input

Goal Schools: Georgetown University, American University, George Washington University, and Boston College

Hispanic male from Massachusetts.

GPA: 3.71 Unweighted. My school does not weight. My grades have been trending upward, most notably my Junior year, which I’m told is good.

ACT: 33 Composite… I can get it to 34 easily and maybe 35.

SAT and SAT IIs: Taking them in the fall but the SAT IIs are my only real concern. I like the feel of the ACT even though I’ve only taken it once. It feels more natural than the PSAT and, I assume, the SAT.

AP Exams: 9 of them. Only one I got back so far has been a 4 on my AP Euro test. I get APUSH, AP Lang and AP Physics 1 back in a few days and I’m taking 5 more Senior year. Senior year APs will be Environmental Science, English Lit, French, US Gov/Politics, and Stats. I project 5s and 4s on all of my APs with the possible exception of physics.

Academics: On a 1-10 scale, 10 being the hardest courses, I’m a very high 9 or a low 10. All Honors or AP courses. This puts me in the top 10-15% of my class. Hard to tell within that range because we do not rank. I will likely be National Merit Commended Status and a National Hispanic Recognition Program Finalist in September before applications. National Honor Society member.

Sports:
Junior and Senior (2-year) Captain of Varsity Swim team, participated varsity all 4 years. I also did external club swimming for all 4 years year-round.
Ran Cross Country 2 years, 1 varsity.

ECs:
Civil Air Patrol 4 years, will reach Officer status before applications are due. CAP has entailed countless hours of community service in multiple situations.
Founded a substance abuse outreach program with volunteer and donation aspects from my school and surrounding area to work in the surrounding towns and cities due to the opioid epidemic.
I write for the school newspaper.
French Club.
Model United Nations.
I went to Boys’ State this summer and was elected to numerous state and municipal positions.
I’ve been certified and working as a lifeguard throughout the entire year (school-year and summer) since Sophomore year.

I want to major in Political Science or some other pre-law type of major within that general scope, maybe Government. Science and math are not my strengths. I love Georgetown and I want to apply EA there to try to let them know as much as possible that they are my first choice, despite my garbage GPA.

Sorry for the wall of text :stuck_out_tongue:

Minor addition but whatever - 4 years of chorus and a cappella and the preceding 2 years in middle school I was involved in Select Choir.
