Dude, you calculated your UGA gpa wrong it’s basicly your UW gpa but only core classes in addition to Ap music theory and AP art

UGA includes my AP 10 its given my county so its a 3.94

dude u don’t know what you’re talking bout. If you got an 89 in an AP class it’s a 3.0 then UGA adds .5 to it so it’s a 3.5. If you got an 90 in an AP class it’s a 4.0 without a .5 added. Go to UGA’s website to see how they calculate GPA

“A student from GC who makes an 85 in an AP course gets a 4.0 for the class, while the a student from a non-weight adding school has a 3.5 for the class. So if the student from GC has a 95 grade and it gets shifted to a 105 (still a 4.0) and the student from a non-weighted school has a 95 and it becomes a 4.5 due to our weighting, it balances out.”

[Advice about the UGA Admission Process: GPA’s, Grades and Reality](<data:blog.pageTitle/>)

GPA and sat’s are low but you are retaking them so that is good.

You’re at a pretty fragile spot with your scores at this point. If you would have another 700+ SAT II, that would be great. The the same goes with your SAT. I’m in no position to say this, but GT and UCB might be pretty chancey. Everything else looks spot on, though!

Chance back?

Hoping to get that sat up significantly, didn’t have a good experience taking it. Assuming I get a 2200+ on sat and maybe 1 or 2 more 750+ on sat, will I be a contender for the colleges I listed above?

Anybody else?

It’ll be harder than usual because of the Asian anti-hook and your lowish GPA/SATs. I think you can get into Georgia Tech though. You should retake the SAT and do REALLY well in your senior year to bring up your cumulative GPA.

Thanks for your advice. I’m taking the ACT this september so hopefully will offset that low SAT. If i get all As without the 10 points my district offers, it would increase my gpa by a tenth if best. Hopefully the college could see the big improvement.

You will get into Tech. I also attend a GC school where both Physics C courses are offered. My teacher said that everyone who takes his course and applied to Tech has gotten in. They basically like to see that you have a good physics foundation.

Do you know how colleges view the extra 10 points added to AP classes?

Your GPA is pretty low and your ECs are not that great, especially for an Asian.

GA Tech(ED) - Match
UGA(ED) - Safety

Are you sure you want to do two EDs at once? I didn’t even know UGA had ED.

UC Berkeley(RD) - Reach
UCLA(RD) - Low Reach
UChicago(RD) - Reach
Emory(RD) - Low Reach
Cornell(RD) - Reach
Northwestern(RD) - Reach
WUSTL(RD) - Reach
JHU(RD) - Reach
Rice(RD) - Reach
Georgetown(RD) - Low Reach?

Good luck!

UGA doesn’t require an essay and as of now, my scores are enough for UGA early decision (nonbinding). I’m currently doing GT Distance Calculus so GT already saw my test scores and GPA already. The 1910 is really low but I believe my ACT score will offset that greatly and the score will come by October.

Thanks for your feedback; i think the strongest so far.

Your GPA is pretty low and your ECs aren’t great, especially for an Asian"

but if he was black:

“Good SAT, pretty good SAT IIs, OK ECs and being a URM will help”

We have similar stats!

GA Tech(ED) - not sure
UGA(ED) - not sure
UC Berkeley(RD) - reach unless you get the SAT up as you told me as well.
UCLA(RD) - same as UCB
UChicago(RD) - not sure
Emory(RD) - not sure
Cornell(RD) - reach because of SAT
Northwestern(RD) - low reach/ high match
WUSTL(RD) - not sure
JHU(RD) - reach
Rice(RD) - low reach/ high match
Georgetown(RD) - low reach/ high match

I’m sorry I didn’t know some of these schools but I tried my best! Hope it helps, PM me for any clarification.

and unless you actually live in CA, UCLA and Cal are not worth applying to (unless you have $250,000 hidden inside the sofa)

In at UGA (all they look at are tests and GPA) unsure for GaTech and a reach for the rest unless you get your scores up

So what? It’s the truth. That’s the purpose of chance threads. I’d say that his ECs were bad for an URM too.

Thanks you both for your opinions.
@FutureVpFinance- I’ll think about it. I don’t want to give up a school because of tuition. I can always establish myself as a permanent resident of Cali(pay taxes to CA, etc) after 2 yrs of living there so i think that will cut down part of the tuition.
@chaosakita- Are my ECs really that bad? I really revived chess club/team since we lost teacher sponsor(left school). My ECs are comparable to the valedictorian at my school.
