So what do you guys think? Do i stand a chance? I'm putting a lot of effort into my essays, so hopefully they will be great.

Surely they give credit to people who take on AP and IB courses simultaneously right? And to people who have shining extra curricular’s? If they didn’t, everyone would take the easiest classes possible and get a 4.0, and sit in their rooms playing video games all day rather than helping their community and being active.

At the moment, Chicago is a high high reach. It’s true that Chicago isn’t that concerned with numbers. However, what that means in the context of elite schools is that great numbers in themselves won’t get you in. You need both great numbers and great extra-curriculars, and the students who are accepted usually have pristine academic records, extremely rigorous courseloads, and outstanding extra-curricular activities.

In addition to my previous comment, it is noteworthy that a number of students with your stats get in. You do have pretty great ECs, so if you write truly outstanding essays, Chicago is a possibility (though, as I stated before, not a probability). In any case, good luck!

Many applicants will have stellars scores/GPAs/course rigor and impressive extracurriculars. The two are not mutually exclusive; just look at the EA results thread. Frankly, your rank and ACT are almost certain to keep you out.

Chicago does, however, weight the essays more seriously in admissions than other top schools. A well-written and insightful essay may help your case–but make no mistake, Chicago is first and foremost an academic institution, and grades and scores will play the biggest role in admissions.

Many comments have been centered around the EA thread on here. Though it does display accepted/rejected students, it does not display ALL accepted students. In my opinion, only the elite of the elite post their stats in that thread for the most part. what im trying to say is that although those stats are accurate, they comprise only the top 30-40% of applicants. Just a viewpoint to consider.
