CHANCE ME: GW, BC, BU, UW, NYU

I have a 3.56 GPA (which will hopefully go up a little this year)
I took the SAT a year ago without studying my junior year and my score was poor (1590) I just took the ACT yesterday, so don’t have my scores, but am anticipating for them to be between 26 and 30. I am taking both tests again.

I’m apart of a program at my high school which allows me to attend a college and take all of my courses at the college for dual enrollment. I’ve been apart of this program my junior and senior years, and should have an AA and HS diploma at the time of my HS graduation. This program might make me stand out among other applicants.

I am worried because I have done many activities just for one year, because I wanted to try new things… so hopefully that won’t make me look uncommitted on the application.

Generally for location I prefer colleges that are in the North East. Essentially, anything above the DC metro area.

The schools that I am thinking about applying to/am interested in are:
-Boston College
-George Washington University
-University of Washington (my state school)
-CUNY Brooklyn College
-Boston University
-Villanova University
-NYU

I am a political science major, and intend on going to law school after undergrad.

If you know of any other colleges that might be a good fit could you please reply to this?
Also, if you could chance me that would be great!

BC - reach
GW - reach
University of Washington - match
CUNY Brooklyn college - I don’t know much about this school but I would say based on its admissions rate that it’s probably a reach
BU - reach
Villanova - reach
NYU - reach

Some of these could be more in range if you brought up your GPA and scores. Most of these schools are looking at the 4.0 student with about a 31 on the ACT. You also do not have any particular “catch” and I’m sorry to say, but I agree with you that it is going to hurt that you have only done your ECs for one year. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the reality is that these are top schools and even the best of the best don’t get in. That said, I don’t think you should take them out of the running. It doesn’t hurt to apply to them, just don’t get your hopes too high. Also, I would add some more safety schools on your list. If you are looking in the New York area, Fordham could be worth a look and for DC maybe look into Howard. Although those too still probably wouldn’t be safety schools.
