What is your class rank? I don't know what DECA is, can you tell me? And, what are these random "exciting things" that you allude to.
With the information you give, right now, I'm just not seeing a wow factor.

My school has 4000+ students so we don't rank. DECA is like FBLA - you compete by doing business presentations at the state and (if you qualify) international level. This past year we made top 10 at internationals.
Other activities : Competitive dance all 4 years, model judiciary, Job from summer 2007-present

I would suggest working hard on your SAT score and writing killer essays. Right now the NoVa scattergrams would show you in the waitlist zone.

4k students? Wow! Is that Robinson? Can't think of another school that big. If your in FFX you should be able to acces this data via blackboard.

Anything else? Would great grades senior year help "cancel out" my low SAT?

Yeah when I went to check the scattergrams for you I saw that message so I reported off of a UVa scattergram that I printed for a friend outside of FFX county.

The little I know about the affect of first quarter senior gpa is that it only affects your overall gpa marginally. Mathmatically it doesn't by itself have a significant impact.

Estimate your class rank. Even if you don't, I believe that your counselor will have to estimate where you stand. Class rank is vital, and without it your status is nebulous. If everyone in your class has a 3.8 then you are average at best. Where you stand in comparison to your classmates matters. Also, rank allows a school to compare you to other schools with different grading systems. A student who is within the top 3-5% of their class (no matter what the grading system) is quite competitive at universities across the nation.

Just a quick question, but do they want unweighted or weighted rank? I have a 4.00 so I'm first in my class, but if it was weighted (I believe, I always get the two mixed up) I could have above a 4.00, and many of my classmates have had much more challenging curriculum than me (more AP classes, IB) so their GPA would be much higher.

Adcoms are professional transcript readers. They will look at your grades and the rigor of your course load when evaluating your application. They will read the profile of your high school to determine whether you took advantage of your schools best academic offerings.

As far as weighted vs. unweighted GPA it depends on what your school reports to colleges. I think most schools report weighted GPA with an explaination of grading system.

Gangsturr,
The top 5% is very good. I think that you have a fairly decent shot of being admitted. It would be great if you could get your SAT score a bit higher as others have suggested.

I find chances threads to be not borderline useless, to be frank, especially if you chance yourself for increasingly selective schools. WHAT is useful however, is asking what boosts your chances, and going to the essays forum and getting peer review.
