Is there any chance of getting into Penn ED? I know it's a reach school for me probably and nobody can ever predict ones chances of getting into schools. But from my credentials, do you think I even have a chance?

Race/Ethnicity: African American (Nigerian to be specific)-- Dual Citizen
Extracurriculars: Sports, Music, Model UN, Community Service Corps., Volunteered at the top Children's Hospital in the nation (300 applied, only 60 got in total)... doing it again, PAML, other clubs as well.
GPA: 3.7 (reason why penn is probably a reach for me, but I do go to a prepartory high school with very high prestige so it's more difficult to achieve a grade such as that)
SAT: 1900 I still need to take 2 subject tests in about 2 weeks so I hope those go well.
Essays: I think they are pretty good.

To be honest, because you’re African and American you have a really good chance! Maybe with higher SAT scores, but it’s impossible. Like 40% chance I would say

I think you do have a chance. As others have said, race plays a part, but you’ve also done some remarkable things in your own right. Grades are fine, sat’s are a little below, but I don’t think they’re dealbreakers at all. Still a reach though.

Everything about your application is good enough for Penn, but I’m worried about your SAT’s!

It would really help if you could bring it up to widely considered Ivy “threshold” of 2100, but that being said, it isn’t impossible to get in with sub 2100s.

For now I’d say it’s still a high reach, but your background could tip the scales in your favor.

Thanks for chancing me! From what I know about Penn, you should be in pretty good shape and should be no less than a low reach for you. Good Luck! Weird thing about my west coast schools is that they don’t look at EC’s as much (if at all) compared to east coast schools…
