I'm so blown. I can't pass this frickkin test. I hate it. I don't want to do ACT for a couple of reasons...USNA prefers SAT and I'm already accustomed to SAT. I wouldn't want to switch. I am going to do another test in January which is allowed for USNA and USMA. I'm not sure what I can do from here. Two close friends of mine who are a senior at the Naval Academy and a freshmen at West Point have helped me for interviews and personal statement. Do I need to send my personal statement for an LOA. I am not expecting an LOA. All I want is to be accepted my a service academy. Yes my scores are absolute minimum dear god, but my dream is to be a commissioned officer in Navy or Army.

PS
-my BGO (for Naval Academy) is sorta slow in response and it takes her like a month to respond. should i take all Q to office?
-is it to late for BGO interviews? I have 6/7 items done (BGO has not responded and I emailed her a week ago from this date)

CFA
5:20 on mile
avg for everything else. Not to great not to bad.

Even though your SAT might not be high, your GPA and class as well as your physical ability can bring you out as a candidate. This was few months ago, anything new happened with your process?

Naw. Like I said (or I’m not sure if I said) I am taking SAT in January. Hm…have been consistently getting 2000-2100 on my SAT (700 math, 670ish Crit) not sure what this entails but I’ve already talked to my adm counselor on what i could do to “amp” my profile up (such as updating with sports awards district, states, etc.) I’m sure that I did not receive a nomination for this year and I am in the remedial process for the medical. I already have a plan B for UMBC and JHU ROTC (I’d get better SATs for JHU and my SAT II are 800s). Not doing NROTC just because I would have to apply to 5 different colleges that I do not want to go. The only one being Cornell (which is a reach).

As for sports, I’ve contacted USNA’s tennis coach. Sports don’t “really” help with the adm. process according to one of the adm. counselor that I met on Dec. 31 but they can sweettalk the board I think.

And if I do get an alternate which is unlikely, I will maximize my CFA and SAT (things that I can control) for the WCS.

Oh nvm. I was telling you about my USNA status whoops. Anyhow its the same without the coach and adm couselos input.

Okay, I went through the Naval Academy process too, but I am not going there since I did not get a nomimation. Well, there are other paths like ROTC which I applied to the NROTC program. Still, don’t doubt your chance at a nomination. Remember, not many Asians apply to service academies, and only very few asians gets in every year(5.5% about 66 people out of 1200). This can just mean that this school is a difficult place for Asians; with all the possible racisms and harassment that might be present, very few hardened Asians survive that place. It might be best for you to start thinking about other ways if you are convinced that West Point and Naval Academy are out of your reach. You can probably tell how harsh West Point can be to minorities. One of the major reasons Asians are there is to ensure diversity. If you think about this and if you know how much sacrifice is needed, especially for an Asian, to pay for the free education, it is better to pursue what you want to do professionally at private universities. Well good luck!

I see your insight but I am sure that the service academies are what “I” want to attend. It is just if “the academies” want me in the class of 2019…

Well, keep on checking your candidate portal where Letters about Qualification can show up as a PDF file. Thing about what I said earlier. West Point is undoubtedly the one of the most prestigious and respectable school in the nation. It not only give you the chance to serve our country at an elite level but also gives you excellent academic program for free! But my point is that beside all the greatness, you can find something false about it. I see that you are really passionate about this institution and so do I. But now that all the active parts of the application have gone away, it is now up to the admission officers. The academy admission is very objective in a way. You know how WCS works. This is all becomes systematical and numerical as time passes. The National Waiting List is for people with nom but not the principle nom or LoA. If you can at least manage to get into that list, I would say that you have a shot at the appointment. Also check on the serviceacademyforum website. It is much better than this website for our purpose.
