Notes: I was born in Quebec, Canada, but I am currently living in New Jersey. I have recently taken the SAT again and will receive the scores at the end of October. I am also planning on taking the ACT this month.

I forgot to mention that my dad is an alumni. I’m not sure if that’ll boost my chances significantly.

Rutgers: Safety
McGill: Reach since CR is the main thing holding you back
Concordia: Low match (SAT-optional)

I just took the SAT and am awaiting on the score. I plan on taking the ACT this month. Does my Critical Reading score really matter if I’m trying to major in Engineer or Finance?

Straight out of McGill’s “Admissions standards for previous years” right where the Chemical, mechanical (and presumably biomedical since it’s in the same selectivity range) engineering standards are:

I know McGill’s procedure isn’t holistic unless you’re on the fence. And “minimum requirements” for engineering, as far as CR is concerned, is 620. But it will no longer be a reach if you get 620+ on CR in the last sitting. So, by all means, come back to me once you’ve got the results of the last SAT sitting.

Rutgers basically admits everyone in New Jersey lol.

The only Rutgers undergraduate units that have anything resembling selectivity are the 0-6 PharmD and the business school.

Hey I just wanted to give an update.

I received my ACT score a few weeks ago.

Composite: 30
English: 33
Math: 32
Writing: 28
Science: 26

How are my chances looking?

Whoops! I mean I got a 28 on Reading.

Rutgers: Safety
Concordia: Low match
McGill: Match (I believe BiomedE is going to be even more selective than ChemE)

Sorry, I chanced you for Rutgers SAS, which isn’t your case. SAS is the one Rutgers unit that admits lots of in-staters with 3.8/30.

Rutgers engineering/business: Match

Thanks for the response. I forgot to mention that I’ve already been accepted to Rutgers. I’ve sent my transcripts to McGill via mail last week and I’m hoping they receive it this week.

Does anybody have any idea how long it takes McGill to respond back? Would it be longer since I live in the states?
