Chance me moderately for HY and other schools please!

Hi all,

I'm going for Harvard, Yale (EA), Columbia, New York University, Georgetown, George Washington, American, and Washington University in St. Louis. Planning to major in Political Science.

My father is Eastern-European American and my mother is Chinese. I'm male. I have legacy at Columbia through my mother.

I'm from NY from a high school that's famous for sciences and pumps out a lot of heavy science-minded students. We have a lot of AP programs. Maybe 2%-3% go ivy?

I'm a rising senior and here's what I got:

GPA: 97 weighted, I don't know unweighted (and I don't know how to convert this to the 4.0 system either...)
SAT 1: 2090
M-720 W-670 CR-700
SAT 2's:
World History: 750 Literature: 660 (planning to retake and I need to get a third, I know)

I've taken most of the AP courses offered at my school except for the science ones.
AP World I and II (5)
AP Calculus AB (4)
AP Language (5)
AP US Hist (5)
AP US Gov and Pol (5)

My senior courses:
AP Comp Pol and Gov
AP Environmental Science
AP Literature
AP Calculus BC (Can I drop this?)
AP French
Student Government
Music Theory
SUPA (Syracuse University Project Advance) Sociology

Top EC's:
Senior Class President
Created the Lorraine Eve Bike Foundation, an official charity that raises money to give bikes to kids (we're going to raise at least $10,000)
I created my own newsletter which had revenue for a little bit and is now being adopted as my school's online newsletter
Presidential Volunteer Service Award Gold
The Brandeis Book Award for Civic Engagement and Social Activism (nominated by school)
Interned with State Assembly member Micah Kellner for a month over the summer
Volunteered at local Hospital
People to People for two Summers (International Diplomacy and Law)
3rd Place in French Oratory Poetry Contest
I play the bass guitar and I'm part of a band
I plan to create a social networking site for student governments
I'm going to create my school's first Student Supreme Court
NHS
MUN (possible leadership position)
500+ Volunteer Hours in Various Places

Recommendations:
Fantastic ones, I'm very personable with teachers, as well as one from the Assemblymember.

Essay:
Should be great, I write well and I can edit well.

I'd really appreciate another perspective on what I have to offer! I still have senior year so I should be able to boost my GPA and the things that I mentioned I will be doing will definitely get done, it's just that it's the summer.

Thanks!

GW, American: Match
Wash U, Georgetown, NYU: Low reaches (NYU might be a match)
HYC: Hugh reaches

^^
Agreed with above.

Your SAT1 and SAT2 are definitely way below the average for average applicants for highly selective insitutions for HYC. While your GPAs are solid (what is your percentile, btw?), your ECs are rather average and there are way too many “I will…” and “I hope too…” Many of the things you have listed are things you hope to do this year, which will show a lack of depth (and possible padding) to admissions officers.

I am going to be taking the ACT, anything I should shoot for?

EDIT: Also, I thought Class President might be worthwhile or it’s still average?

like 34+ 10char

@Dale
There are over 20,000 high schools in the United States, meaning roughly 20,000 valedictorians, 80,000 high school class presidents, and hundreds of thousands of sports team captains.
