I have an unweighted GPA of 3.4 and a weighted GPA of 3.76. My GPA in junior year alone was a stellar 4.7 with 4 APs. Obviously, grades 9 and 10 were a bit of a struggle. I am awaiting my SAT score but I am confident I received at least a 1400/1600 (1370 on previous attempt). My AP scores are as follows:
-AP Calculus AB: 4
-APUSH: 3 ;(
-AP Lang: 5
-AP Psych: 4
My expected Senior course load:
-AP Calculus BC
-AP Statistics
-AP Lit
-AP Government
-AP Computer Science
-AP Physics
My extracurricular activities are as follows:
-Model UN
-Library Volunteer
-Future Business Leaders of America
-American Red Cross Club
-Wounded Warriors
-Pre-Med Club
-Philosophy Club
-Rec Basketball
-Summer Work
-Outdoor Adventure Club
Also, I am of Asian Indian descent and a resident of California. My intended major is either Finance or Economics with a possible double major in Computer Science which I know is extremely difficult. If you guys would be so kind, could you please estimate my chances of being admitted to OSU and receiving a good amount of financial aid? (aka National Buckeye Scholarship)
Very open to recommendations for non California schools that would offer me a good amount of financial aid. (family of 4 105k/year)
Thanks So Much!
What is class rank?
It seemed from analyzing data posted by last year’s applicants that someone not in top 10% of their high school class but in top 25% needed an ACT of 31 to get in. By published concordance tables, it seems that act of 31 is equivalent to around 1420-1440 on the new SAT. So, if this is where you class rank is, you will be close with a SAT of 1400.
I’m Top 25% @almostdonewithhs @osuprof
You have a great chance of both getting in and getting a scholarship.
Congrats because you are soooo going to be accepted. Welcome to buckeye nation. Now let’s give Michigan something to cry about next week! (;
@osuprof do you know how OSU evaluates students whose high school doesn’t rank them? Just wondering if OSU estimates their rank to make sure their top 25% benchmark is met? Or if OSU just looks at gpa and ACT then. Saw this chart for UVA with a column of unranked students, and was just wondering. http://avillage.web.virginia.edu/iaas/instreports/studat/dd/adm_rank.htm
