Essays: I think they are pretty good.

You SAT is low for any of these schools, but your SAT IIs are good and your curriculum and extracurriculars seem really strong. I think you definitely need to add some more schools to your list; more target and safety schools.

I had limited choice of schools because I am not an american citizen and my currency is 7 times less than the american dollar. I am mostly dependent on financial aid and scholarships. Thanks for your time tough.

Currency conversion is irrelevant; if you’re currency is inflated or overvalued, you’re parent’s salaries are inflated or overvalued as well. I am sick of hearing these excuses from international students. If you want to go to school in the U.S., then quite your whining and excuses.

my father is deceased and my mother doesn’t work so we don’t have salary… only savings. I am not whining.

I think UMich is the best choice for you, but I can’t say anything about f.aid.
Good luck! :)

The problem with Michigan is they give little to no aid to internationals.

John, the problem is your stats are not competitive for these schools. You never know, one might have a great desire for a student for Egypt and not see many applicants, but it’s not likely to be a very top school. Maybe a less known school like Tufts, but that’s still a stretch.

If you don’t have a school you want to attend at home you can reapply next year. Try to bring up the scores and look at lesser known schools that see few Egyptian applicants but are known to give internationals aid. Use this site to research.

Thank you guys for your time. there’s an update for the SAT II (Math level 1 790, math level 2 800, physics 800 and chemistry 780) … would that make a difference ?

what the heck you guys. this kid has ridiculous grades and ridiculous extracurriculars. his dad is dead and they’re living on no income. do you all seriously think that he won’t get into any of these colleges???

you’re fine. i mean, with MIT, everything is a crapshoot, but the other schools you listed are i’m sure COMPLETELY fine with your SAT score, which is only low because it’s NOT YOUR NATIVE LANGUAGE.

jeez.

that is such a relief…finally someone who thinks I have a chance even if it is a small one !! I forgot to mention my brother is a freshmen at MIT, does that make a difference ?

Hey john…I think you will do fine. have you thought about liberal arts colleges that have great aid? Don’t be discouraged by ‘‘chance me’’ threads you have a good shot. Just write compelling essays and you will have a good shot. I am also an international from Kenya but I have already applied for fall of 2012. I had 2070 on sat but lower sat2s. If you can get a fee waiver you can apply to more schools and boost your chances. Pm me for more info. And if you will retake the sats I could give you some material that raised my score from 1770 to 2070.

Good luck.

oh have you already applied? then just chill and hope it turns out well.

huss182 If I didnt get accepted I will definitely ask for your help in the SAT I so I can raise my score and apply next year. thanks though. did u get any decisions from the colleges you were applying to ?

I have already gotten into university of richmond under the richmond scholar…but I am waiting on the other colleges…I basically applied to abt 15 schools but my top choices were williams, amherst dartmouth and brown. Yeah I would be glad to help you can pm me any time. BUt I think you will have a decent shot if you wrote a good personl statement.

Let me know how It goes:)

I think your SAT IIs, grades, and extracurriculars are all on track for these schools but your SAT I scores make these schools high reaches.

2 days for MIT decisions… there’s nothing to do now but to cross fingers and wait !!

I got accepted in MIT and still waiting for other decisions.
