Chance me please!! Schools closer to home

I would really appreciate some feedback

Here are my stats:

Highly competitive prep school (sends 30% of class to ivies each year)
GPA: 3.21
SAT: 2160 (M:760, CR: 710)
EC's: 4-year varsity lacrosse player, acapella leader, 10+ years of cello, model un, Russian Club President, etc.

Claremont McKenna, Major: Economics
Freshman year GPA: 3.65
Intro Econ, Marine Bio, Korean 1, Humanities Seminar (req), Literature (req), CalcII, Korean 2, Mechanical physics, Phsycology (Overloaded 2nd semester)
Predicted Sophomore GPA: 3.7 (Currently 3.8, but leaving room for error)
Micro, Macro, Philosophy, Korean
EC's: Virtually none in college other than various work-study jobs

Much of my courseload has been dictated by the general requirements at CMC.

Reasons for transferring:
1. Costs/Location: Being from the northeast, Claremont McKenna is on the opposite side of the country, and travel costs are adding up, especially since I am receiving less than desired financial aid currently.
2. Environment: Socially, I have had alot of trouble making friends and just being comforatble here. More so than anything, I'd like a chance a fresh start.

I am NOT looking to transfer because I wish to go to a "better school." I would be completely sastisfied graduating from claremont mckenna with the grades that i know i can get and therefore there are no 'safeties' on my list.

Schools I am thinking about in order of preference:
Yale
Amherst
UPenn
Dartmouth
Bowdoin
Middlebury

Thanks!

if you would be completely satisfied with graduating with the grades you have now, then why are you looking to transfer if not to get into a better school? i'm sure what you are saying is true, but im just fuzzy on the logic

the ivies on that list are waaaay out of your league...i would say that you are almost wasting your time applying to them, a 3.2 in college and a 3.65 are not even in the ballpark for them...same thing with duke

middlebury, amherst, and bowdoin (high retention rate) are very very high reaches, but maybe worth applying to

if you really are content where you are then your plan is fine...if you want to get out then you really need to lower your focus

gl

I guess I am 'satisfied' with the school in that, yes, cmc is a great school.
I am having an awful time socially, and that is why i am curious about transferring.

Concerning my low high school GPA, i did attend a very respected private school. In the initial college process i was admitted to georgetown, usc, nyu, and wash u, just for a frame of reference.

is there any particular reason you think that transferring will help your social life? as a starting point, transfers usually have some trouble immersing themselves in their envirionment and often times have problems socially...you don't want to transfer into a worse situation is what im saying

Transferring can help when changing to a different type of social environment. The schools that you've listed however are very similar in their student body--homogeneous, preppy, wealthy, etc. If you want a change, you should consider a public university--where there is more diversity (economically, racially, backgrounds, etc.).
