My scores from every standardized test taken were (mistakenly) sent to UF, because I sent every score to FSU (required) and they share the same data base ( incoming freshmen beware).
I have been dual enrolled at a local state college since my junior year. I took all Pre-IB courses my freshman and sophomore year. I chose not to do the IB program (very common at my school/ my grades were not the reason). I have taken 3 AP classes, and I’m currently finishing one up online. My senior coursework goes as following:
Intro to Chem (DE)
Intro to Chem lab (DE)
Speech (DE)
Trigonometry (DE)
Human growth & development (DE)
UW GPA: 3.88
W GPA: 5.04 (not my UF GPA)
College GPA: 3.89
SAT (new): 1320
SAT (old): 1720
ACT: 25,26, 27
Volunteer Hours: 220
Extracurriculars:
4-year varsity swimmer/ team captain 11th grade/ received scholar athlete award (given to member with highest GPA)/ received rookie of the year award (given to freshman who scored the most points)
2-year club swimmer
2-year NHS member
2-year sign language club member
1-year French Club member
1-year STEM club member ( won 2nd place in a STEM competition
1-year FBLA member (won 1st in client service at districts, placed top ten at states)
I’ve had 3 jobs (including where I work now). I worked/ work full time during season.
Ps. My sister went to UF if alumni is considered
Who told you that? Either way it doesn’t matter.
UF only considers your best test scores, they don’t even look at your other scores. Your new SAT score of 1320, is higher than your old SAT score and the equivalent of a 28 on the ACT. That’s the score UF is likely to use. UF does super score the ACT, so that may end up being a bit better…
As you can see, your test scores are in the middle 50% of admitted students.
Your GPA (uw 3.88) is also likely in the middle 50% of admitted students.
When entering your EC’s, stress how much time went into swimming (number of weeks a year, days a week, and hours per week). Do the same thing with work.
UF would rather see a substantial commitment to a handful of EC’s/volunteer/work, and not membership in 27 different clubs.
UF does consider alumni association, but it’s not a big boast.
All things considered, you have the grades and test scores. It also looks like you have the ECs, etc. UF is a match.
Good Luck!
^^Gator88 I didn’t realize UF superscored ACT (?). That’s good news.
OP I like your ECs and your GPA from what you’ve stated. A little nervous with test scores but agree with Gator88 overall (who btw gives great insight on all things UF).
Work on your essay would be my thought (if you haven’t already submitted your app).
Wait, UF superscore the ACT??
@SouthFloridaMom9 @soyunchico
SORRY! UF does NOT super score the ACT. I was thinking of another school…my bad!
^^no problem @Gator88NE! I thought maybe it changed this cycle. I remember praying that they super-scored last year, because my son’s super-score was very strong. But thanks to a couple of wildly fluctuating sub-scores, he had the same composite all 3 times. That’s the only reason I knew that little factoid about UF/ACT lol. I also beat myself up last year for not making him do SAT.
All the schools start to run together.
@Gator88NE thanks for all of your help. To answer your question, I called up the UF admissions office, the ACT help center, and the SAT help center and they all told me the same thing. The shame thing about it is when people pay for reports to multiple schools when in-state schools share the same data base.
