Chance Me Please! ~Unique Circumstances~

Hi! I’m currently a junior in high school, and I was hoping someone might be able to tell me what my chances of getting into Columbia University early decision are.

What makes my situation unique is that my dad is a professor at Columbia. He is under the impression that his position there will have a large impact on whether or not I am accepted, but I’m not so sure.

GPA: 3.8 U.W. 4.1 W

SAT: 2140 (730 CR, 670 M, 740 W)-- NOT submitting these
SAT II: 710 Bio – Submitting and planning on taking the English Literature one in October

ACT: 33 (35 English, 30 Math, 36 Reading, 29 Science)–Submitting, but I’m planning on retaking it in September to try to increase my math and science scores.

AP: None that I’m submitting yet, but I took the A.P. English Language and Composition, A.P. Macroeconomics, and A.P. Microeconomics exam this year and feel pretty confident (fingers crossed!) that I did decently.

EC: A bit lacking, but I am the president of the Red Cross club at my school, member of Business and Entrepreneurship club, have done indoor and outdoor track since Freshman year, currently working towards my EMT certification, and a member of the Chinese National Honor Society and Rho Kappa (Social Studies National Honor Society).

Race: African American
Gender: Female

Haven’t posted one of these before, so if you need any more information, please ask!

class ranking?
are you taking the most rigorous curriculum available to you?
I’m sure you have more etracurriculars, just try and think. Do you work? Summer programs? Camps?
Based on what you’ve put here I don’t think you’ll get in but then again I have no idea how much having a dad working at a school would help you as much as your dad seems to think.

If your dad donated a lot of money to Columbia or he is a member of an important school organization or is on the Board or something else idk, then it might help you.
Otherwise, I don’t think it helps as your dad’s situation does not fall under legacy.
Applying ED and URM will definitely help, but how are your stats compared to your peers at your school? Does your school have 4.0’s running rampant, or does your school grade hard and everyone has had B’s in a couple of classes?

As of now, it will be tough for you to get in given Columbia has a sub 7% acceptance rate.
