Columbia university

Hi I'm a junior now attending a private catholic all boys school. I did not start out very well. I didn't even take any honors courses my first two years, but I got all A's and a few B's my freshman year. This was because I had to move across the country with my father who I had never spoken to because my mother was abusive and addicted to drugs. I was going to write about that in my college essay and make it my primary focus. Then I got straight A's my sophomore year. I joined in on the top scholars program at my school in my junior year and Im the only one in history to do so. I'm in all honors and AP classes this year and doing exceptionally well this year with only a B+ so far. I've started my own club (president and founder of the investors of tomorrow), am a member of the math honors society, a peer minister for campus ministry, the treasurer of the student body, and most likely president next year. I've worked an 80 hour internship over the summer and will do another this summer. My gpa is 3.9/4.4 and will most likely raise a bit. I've worked my way up to the top ten percent of my class. I played two years of JV lacrosse and recieved numerous awards for spanish, lacrosse, religion and the principals list. With such significant improvement given my circumstances, do you think I have a chance at getting into Columbia?

Given that you maintain your GPA and get a great SAT or ACT score, you are a competitive applicant. I’m sorry to hear about your childhood hardships. You are on the right track, work hard and dream big. I’m applying to Columbia ED this year so let me know if you have any questions regarding the admission process. Good luck

Thank you so much! I appreciate it. I’m going to apply ED too. Best of luck to you!

What are your sat or act scores?

I haven’t taken them yet. But on my pact I got a 31 last year and psat I got a 224

What was your gpa unweighted freshman year?
