Applying: UT Austin, Southern Methodist University, UT Arlington, Boston University, NYU, Fordham, American University, UC Santa Barbara, CU Boulder, and Sarah Lawrence.

I had very similar stats (although i am a white male, so you should get some bump for being black…even if you don’t need it) and i applied to many of the same schools. (3.2, 9 APs, 2090 SAT) Make sure to include an explanation of why your grades were hurt in your application under the special circumstances section. They really do take that into account.
UT Austin - high match
Southern Methodist University - match
UT Arlington - safety
Boston University - high match (write a good essay. it matters a lot at BU.)
NYU - low reach
Fordham - reach (they dropped admissions percentages like 12% to like 37% this year and i wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped significantly again next year. it sounds like fordham is aiming to make it into the top 25, so it’s a tough time to apply.)
American University - match as long as you show interest. apparently, the only thing that american cares about is how many times you have visited campus and if you’ve interviewed. i was waitlisted and i know many people who actually had worse stats. obviously i’m not the perfect example or anything, but definitely keep in contact if you want to go to AU. it’s all they really care about as far as i can tell.)
UC Santa Barbara - low reach
CU Boulder - safety (especially if you’re from colorado…i am and i know kids who had GPAs < 3.0 and ACT below 24 and still got in…)
Sarah Lawrence - i really couldn’t tell you hahaha

good luck!

Yeah, I figured NYU AND UCSB were low reaches, my mom just wants me to apply to UCSB because it’s her alma mater.
I didn’t know that about Fordham! I thought it was a bit easier, shows what I know haha. I guess I thought it was easier because I know someone who got in this year with like an 1850 SAT, but he had a 4.0 GPA so that proably helped him a lot.
Thank you! :)
