Hi Everyone!

Starting to start the college application process and wanted to see my chances of getting into UCF for either Summer or Fall of 2013. (Graduating HS in 2013, just finished up junior year)

-I have a 3.65 HS Weighted GPA and a 3.2 academic GPA.
-26 on ACT first time. Taking it again in 2 weeks.
-Waiting on SAT scores still
-550 hours of community service
-Job running the tech department for a local business. Manage a $100k/year operating budget.
-Band for 2 years
-Editor in Newspaper
-In state

Academic GPA has me worried.... what are your thoughts? Thanks!!

Will admit, I’m a bit confused with the GPA. Does the weighted GPA include classes that are not considered core academic classes? Weighted GPA usually refers to your academic classes only, and adding extra points based upon how you did in AP classes. The ACT is good, and if you can get it higher, even better! The community service hours are good, but take it from when I say they won’t really matter to UCF (I had about 700). Since UCF is a huge public school, stats come first, which can be good or bad, depending on your stats. If your GPA really is to, you’ll need to apply for summer, not fall, not matter how high your ACT score is. The higher the score, the better chance that it will make up for your GPA, and the better chance they’ll accept you. Even with a 26 ACT…I think you stand a pretty good shot at summer term! Just remember-apply early, and take the essays seriously! If you’re being compared with another student, the essays could make or break you. I wish you the best of luck!:)
