Might look into having grades waved from my first run through at a flashy art college back in 2007 due to some unforeseen health issues, which would boost my GPA to 3.1

waived*

I should also note I’m a returning student at age 25, so I don’t believe my ACT scores are valid any longer.

You should post on the UC Transfer forum for more informed answers. I do know that there is no way to waive grades from other schools. They are on your permanent record. If you are a transfer, your ACT/SAT scores have no bearing on admissions. You do need at least 60 semester or 90 quarter units by the end of Spring 2015 to transfer to a UC. Did you to TAG for UCD? That would have given you a guaranteed. For UCD, I believe you need a minimum GPA of 3.0. Good Luck.

I’m from Minnesota, which means I’m going to have to wait to apply for a year. I’m thinking my best move would be enrolling at a community college first and using the TAG to get in.

It is really unlikely you’ll be admitted with those stats.
Good luck.

As said before, those grades from art school will definitely be difficult - if not impossible - to void. I would HIGHLY recommend the TAG program. You may be eligible for academic renewal, but that may not apply to classes outside of your junior college.

Good luck.

TAG is going to be an expensive 2 year detour and you are already 25. I’d get a degree at your state school and move to CA after you graduate.
