The CR score is a bit low for Carleton standards, but your other stats are good. Carleton really values uniqueness and passion, which comes through in ECs, essays, interviews and recommendations. This can compensate for a lesser score. I think your chances are good.

Good luck!

you have a good chance.

I wouldn't worry too much about the CR score, as it is not alarming or eyebrow-raising. Your extracurriulars look great (Yay! Another lit mag editor! ^.^ ) and show a lot of drive and passion. I think you stand a great chance!

Hope to see you at Carleton next year!

Wow, you seem like a really cool person... and from one newspaper ed-in-chief to another (heh, I want to work on the paper in college wherever I go, hopefully Carleton) you seem like a likely candidate. Good luck!

I agree with the others. Your so-called "low" SAT score (in verbal) will not make or break you at Carleton. Everything else looks quite strong. I bet you make it in. Good luck!

you will get in

32 hours a week in ecs (plus whatever you have in sports) is pretty impresssive. That's upwards to 6-7 hours each day during the week, meaning you'd be at the school until 8-9 every single night, plus being captain of the ski team...
whoa

wow, thanks guys! ... there's probably one other thing you should know though... i know they value interviews strongly, and i missed the interview deadline... how much do you think that will hurt?

oh, and for jdub: yeah, i actually am at school until about 9-10 every night... it seems weird, but school ends at 3:30, and rehearsals are usually from like 6-9, so i stay at school to work on the newspaper in between because i about a half hour away from school... and then there's one night every 2 weeks that's a newspaper work night where the newspaper staff stays at school until about 2:30 a.m. on a wednesday night to finish the paper up entirely and make it ready for printing... oh, and ski team captain actually takes less time than you'd think because all of our ski races are either on weekends or during school days and we have to travel 2 hours (to Tahoe) for them and then back...

nice, more power to you

good luck, maybe ill see you next year if we both go to Carleton!

My son was accepted last year from application alone, had not visited campus or interviewed b4 application/acceptance.

Best of luck. Hope you are accepted, you will love it.
