<p>It seems to me that you're just like about 70% ( the actual percentage is probably far from right, but the idea is, a huge part) of the applicant pool. You have good academic stats, but there isn't anything that really sets you apart. I suggest working really hard on your essays, getting fantastic recs and focusing on your extracurriculars. Take AP exams if they're offered at your school. Work hard, smile and keep going, but remember that there are no criteria anyone can meet to ensure acceptance into Yale.</p>
<p>BTW, don't believe that "Academic Index" crap when you're applying to an Ivy League, especially Yale (or Harvard, Princeton). You're by no means too "low" or "high" or anything. Like most top-notch schools, getting in entails a lot of factors that can't be quantified through numbers: teacher references, essays, personal circumstance, etc. Just because you're a "7" and your friend's a "9" doesn't mean your friend will get in over you.</p>
