Chance me please!!

My weighted GPA is a 3.7...I'm taking one AP and ive only taken honors courses in high school. my sat scores are 730 writing, 720 critical reading, 690 math. I'm graduating a semester early just because i have the credits and can..so i'll probably join a vounteer travel program like habitat for humanity or soemthing else international. i wouldnt be applying ED , but i would do EA for the schools who have it. i'm interested in journalism, international relations, and political science and i'm looking at george washington, cu boulder, syracuse, penn state, umd college park, florida state, virginia tech and wyoming (i dont even know why im looking there...) thanks!!

From a numbers standpoint, you have a very good chance at all of these colleges. Syracuse has an amazing communications program, and george washington is definitely great for political science. However, you didn’t really mention any ECs so its hard to tell how they will judge your resume.

I FORGOT! well i’ve been holding a part time job for 2 years, which is everyday after school, so it doesn’t allow me to participate in school activities. But i have taken out of school art classes at the same studio for the past 5 years, and my instructor would definitely write me a recommendation. i’m also involved in the youth services in my town…i’ve helped out with things like fashion shows and i’ve designed in them as well, so i have a portfolio for that too. other than that its been unofficial things…i play guitar as a hobby and took lessons for a couple years but i stopped.

Is money an issue?

For GW and Syracuse it is somewhat. I plan on applying for private scholarships and the ones given out by the schools…do they not have good financial aid?

No, they don’t have good aid nor do the OOS publics on your list, so this is not a great list for someonne in need of aid. Private scholarships are hard to count on, especially after the first year as most are for only one year.

That wasn’t really what I was asking about though. I know what I can afford and what I can’t i’m not worried about yet, i’m just worried about actually getting in first. I’m counted as in state for Maryland, so that isn’t even an issue. But if you know anything about the admissions part of it that would be great.
