-1 from my Physics/Robotics teacher who is also my Robotics independent study mentor AND my US FIRST ROBOTICS team coach (Definitely a good rec. He's gotten one of my friends into Dartmouth and another into Columbia(the kid who got into Dartmouth has my GPA but 1410 SAT M+CR).
-1 from my Spanish Literature Teacher (I have a multitude of personal conversations with her over the years, knows me as a student and as a person very well)

Schools to which I have applied Regular Decision
-Cooper Union
-Massachusetts Institute of Technology
-Columbia University Fu Foundation School of Engineering (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program)
-Cornell (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program)
-Macaulay Honors College (the campus I am picking is City College, the only one that provides engineering)
-Polytechnic Institute of NYU = Accepted Rolling Admission :D
-Manhattan College

Also do you think I will be invited to the NYU Poly Honors program (its by invitation)?

I think your situation could be a bit useful, considering you are the 1st generation to go to college. Yea, keep your hopes up! :)

bump anyone.

i think its a crapshoot for you at the top schools you are applying to

however the problem you have is you Math test scores are a little low, but who knows

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/845323-probably-will-just-going-my-state-school-but-chance-me-these-improbable-sc.html</a></p>

Well congrats on all your accomplishments. Other than stats have you taken AP calculus or any calc for that matter, I could chance you but let me know more about your math background.

calc not AP though (they didnt give it to me wth! I applied for it didnt get it then when i was like wth they were like get a schedule change then when I do they were like uhhhhhh the class is full! I go to townsend harris so there are a lot of qualified students and apparently there isnt room for everyone in every class)

What about at queens college, could you have taken calc there? What would be the highest algebra/trig based math you covered? It would be a bit of a problem if you did not take calculus, especially for MIT but then again I can never be too certain…

Oh, and how many total AP’s have you taken, have you taken a full blown AP program course work load? Or have taken IB Courses?

I took AP Computer Science, AP World History, and taking AP Statistics and AP Spanish. I have all honors courses though. My high school is not too great when it comes to offering APs. But I am taking queens college courses and I took the APs I could. Wanted AP Calc (full didnt get it). Besides the 4 I have, there is AP US (again full and didnt get it grrrrrrrrrr), AP Psych (Conflicted with AP Computer science so I couldnt take it really prefered AP CS), AP Jap (dont know japanese, lmao) and AP French (dont speak french either). So really I took all the APs I could. Sometimes the force (and the programming office) isnt with you. :(

NO SCIENCE APs exist in my school ■■■!!

Hey chance me. No hay cursos de ciencias de AP wth? Y del Bachillerato Internacional? Anyways. I think that you are in a good position for all those schools. You have a strong background, and I think you are going to get into all of them, except MIT I think might be a bit of a reach but not much since you have no calculus.

[MIT Admissions: Recommended High School Preparation](http://mitadmissions.org/topics/before/recommended_high_school_preparation/index.shtml)

Like hops12 said, did you take math at queens college? If you look the would like candidate with math through calculus, but by all means go ahead and apply your ec’s are good, your SAT’s are great and your GPA is strong. IN,IN,IN, Hey how easy was it to get into Poly-NYU did you interview?

Chance me please otro latino pero no tan bueno como tu hahaha…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/838740-what-my-chances-2.html</a></p>

I did take Calculus, just not AP and there are not IB courses in my school. No no queens college math. I got a QC Physics course (007 Physics of Sound… got an A+ we got our grades already :D)

I think you are bright and able to pursue MIT then, what sciences what have you taken other than Physics?

You’re probably close to in at Cornell, it may be a bit of a low reach.
and MIT is a reach for everyone. Don’t hurt me when I say that, but even the 4.0 student with a 2400 could get rejected at MIT.
That being said, I just went to the MIT website that was linked above and I though of my AP stats teacher. Hilarious, because he went to MIT and it makes me wonder if they make you think like that. (:
Anyways, Cooper Union and Columbia should accept you, I’d say somewhere around a 70% chance.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/843824-chance-me-ill-chance-you-too.html</a></p>

Hey again. I don’t think you got into Honors. They would’ve told you in your letter, most likely. Also, they’re looking for even higher SAT scores. like a hundred points higher, excluding writing.

wow i think ur ECs are very good. a big concern i feel like is ur math score, it is somewha t low for these top schools. I think overall you should be ok. but a few of those top ones are reaches. thanks for your opinion also

Thanks anyone else???

@static: didn’t get my official letter yet but the decision on their site is up and it says I got in. Also on the site it says they will “invite to apply to the honors program” if they feel I am eligible and capable.

Also any other thoughts?

-Cooper Union - match
-Massachusetts Institute of Technology - reach
-Columbia University Fu Foundation School of Engineering (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program) - low reach/ reach
-Cornell (Applying for the HEOP/NOP program) - low reach/ reach
-Macaulay Honors College (the campus I am picking is City College, the only one that provides engineering) - match
-Polytechnic Institute of NYU - in, congrats!
-Manhattan College - match

The only thing, like everyone said, is your math SAT score. But you have great EC’s and an interesting situation, so best of luck to you!
