I heard a few months ago that Ross will be changing their undergraduate acceptance system for the class of 2021. This is very convenient as it works in my favor; however, it is a little confusing as there are no specific admission statistics.

I plan to focus in management at Ross and I will be applying through LSA. I was just wondering about what you guys think my chances are with the new pre-admission system?
While your application is certainly very strong, it’s pretty hard to tell. I’m currently a freshman at U Mich, and I know plenty of students with lower SAT and GPA than you who got in as pre-admits and know people who are extremely bright who didn’t get in as pre-admits.
Ross is looking for students who are passionate about certain things (definitely not necessarily business) and demonstrate that through extracurriculars. They’re not looking for generic (Im interested in business and wanna go to Ross type of thing) stuff, they look for uniqueness. So, people who can demonstrate those interests well on the application and essay will more likely get in. If your interest is in business and you demonstrate it well enough, then yeah that helps, but Ross does realize that all applicants are interested in business. Talking about other interests and how it relates to Ross would boost your application.
As a current sophomore at Ross (I transferred directly into Ross from a different university), we’ve heard a little about the new admission process for pre-admits. Pre-admission to Ross will be very difficult, however at the moment no one can properly chance your application stats since the Ross admissions board has no set data pertaining to the average acceptance or ideal candidate. I recommend that you give a detailed explanation as to why you’re interested in the Ross curriculum and community. Browse the Ross website and look into the departments/clubs that directly pertain to your academic and career aspirations.
You have everything you need to get in, but now its up to your essay. Also, nobody really knows how hard it will get in as a pre admit now that they changed admissions
My son got in as Pre-admit this Spring said he knows a lot of the students had low statistics. So there must be something else set them apart. Many of them even worry about meeting the 3.3 GPA for their freshman year. 12% last year failed to make the cut. It seems not so selective.
