***IM A FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL BUT IF THIS WAS MY STATS WHAT WOULD BE MY CHANCES????? JUST PRETEND THIS IS ME AND DONT SAY IM TOOOOO YOUNG FOR THIS.. THANKS GUYS

Any specific branch of engineering? And if you were a senior, I would say you would have great chances at all of these schools; strong academics and good hooks make you a very competitive applicant.

But even as a freshman, how do you already have SAT scores?

Thanks, i appreciate it. Well i want to be an aerospace engineer but that might change. I put up a profile im “on pace” for and i asked just to see what strenghts i would have. Most of the EC’s im working on right now and my grades are straight A’s and i tutor and do community service right now so…

Admissions would probably be even more competitive in three years. If you applied this year, your stats would undoubtedly be pretty strong, although I think you’d need to demonstrate an interest in math/science through competitions/activities for MIT. It doesn’t hurt to start thinking about college early… but it doesn’t help to create a fictitious character and ask people to chance it. Just get involved in stuff you are passionate about, challenge yourself, and make good use of your free time. (Please also enjoy yourself as well… and don’t spend too much of your life bent on getting into a “top” university.)

thanks everybody…well i dont really know about much math competitions and stuff like that. How do i find out about these things? And do you guys know which schools have great aerospace engineering programs…besides MIT?

Your a freshman! There is a very likely chance your interests/“statistics” will change than what you intended. It’s easy to get wrapped up in college thinking, but seriously it is way too early to start planning your colleges and putting your hypothetical stats on chance threads.

Don’t listen to them…I don’t think you are too early. It’s never too early! It’s good that you are planning this and daydreaming about this(if you are…) Sometimes it’s good to daydream I wish I was like you when I was a freshman…I had no clue. I think you can get into those Ivy League universities (if you have those stats).

Just wondering but do you play basketball? guitar? was your mom really abuse by your dad?

i disagree with the person above. dont spend your whole high school life just thinking about what college you are trying to go to. it leads to a depressing and unenriching high school experience. focus on doing things you love and enjoying what your learning. see you in a couple of years

Well, I don’t think it’s too early to start thinking about college. You need to get involved in the things you enjoy right NOW, and become devoted to and passionate about them, and hopefully acquire leadership positions in them. Your real stats are very likely going to deviate from those dream stats. A freshman with only a 3.57 GPA (this would definitely be your easiest year) might not going to jump to a 3.8 when you’re going to be taking more and more difficult classes.

Planning for your college future as a HS freshman is a good thing. But I agree with those who are advising you to slow down a little. If you’ve got a 3.57 as a freshman, it’s a little early to assume you’ll have a 3.8 in a couple of years, much less projecting SAT and subject scores.

Work hard, aim high, and hopefully you’ll be fine. Good luck.

look you can think about it… but only a little bit. i mean first off posting a chance thread now is indeed ridiculous. everything is hypothetical making it pointless. high school should not be looked at as only a stepping stone to college. too many kids spend their times focusing their lives on those ivy grades and ivy sat scores and realize that they have become mindless robots that have no real love or appreciation for what they are learning. use your high school time to develop an enjoyment for learning and being involved with what you love, not to worry about college

Predicting an SAT at this point is pretty pretentious. You may score higher or lower depending on many factors. Try to enjoy high school while you can.
