What major (or college) did you apply for? Some colleges, like college of nursing or Smeal business or college of engineering are ultra competitive. Others like Liberal Arts is easier.

.

HHD

If the GPA listed is unweighted, you may get into HHD if you checked the option to start in the summer. My gut is that acceptance for fall is a reach. An unweighted GPA of 3.55 represents the 25th percentile for accepted students at university park…so yours is lower than that. Accepted students who fall below the 25th percentile typically have a hook or are recruited athletes. You are already on the bubble with a 3.46 unweighted GPA so hopefully that 3.46 is not the weighted GPA.

If the GPA you post is weighted, you are more likely to be offered a spot in the 2+2 program.

You may get in for summer HHD, but it’s really 50/50. I’d expect that the most likely scenario with your GPA and test scores will be a 2=2 program. Your GPA and SAT are below the 25% for each.

There is a lot of discussion here on this board as to whether Penn State’s published middle 50% GPA represent weighted or non weighted grades. Since it says on their website that it’s based on a 4.0 scale, I’ve always determined that the middle 50% is unweighted. If that GPA is your weighted GPA, it is far below the middle 50%. If it’s your unweighted, it’s still below the middle 50%.

Keep your fingers crossed because we often see things that happen with regards to admissions that we can’t explain. But the most likely scenario is that you will be offered a 2+2. In that case, a commonwealth campus such as Altoona, Harrisburg or Behrend would be your best bet as far as colleges in their own right.
