Also, is it harder to get into SFS than the College?

Your stats are decent, and your ECs are strong, but the big problem I find is that there’s no compelling argument within your app that says you fit the SFS. The SFS does have a lower acceptance rate than the College, but not by much. Your application is kind of all over the place though. There’s a strong English trend in there, but not as much of a globally-focused trend for someone considering the SFS. What major are you looking at? The service work to the DR will help, as well the language connection, but otherwise your interests seem to be quite varied and not very internationally focused. You would need to make sure to convey your interest in IR or global politics in your essays (that is assuming that you are interested in IR, since you’re applying to the SFS).

Hi,
Thank you so much for your observations. This has been a worry of mine, that I have not showcased my interests in IR enough through my ECs, even though I have a strong interest in the subject. Much of my writing for the school newspaper over the years has had to do with global politics, however this is not necessarily something the comittee would know from only looking at my application. I may need to reconsider what school I am applying to, because Georgetown’s location in DC might enable me to work in the international focus I would like in a major, and therefore allow me to study within the College.
