Chance me? (slim chances, but a potential athlete at a couple of schools)

I am a junior at a large public school in my state, and I was wondering what my chances were for some schools.

I have been in contact with coaches from Carnegie Mellon and UChicago, and responses have been positive so far.

I will also most likely be applying to the following schools, but not as a recruitable athlete.

UMichigan -- Ann Arbor (in-state)
UWisconsin -- Madison
Cornell
UMinnesota -- Twin Cities
UIUC
Northwestern
WUSTL

Maybe a few others, but those are what mainly come to mind. I already have safeties in mind.

Unweighted GPA: 3.98
Weighted GPA: 4.14 (we don't get a huge boost for APs)
Rank: 1/647

ACT: I know this is low, but I am retaking. C: 31 M: 32 E: 32 R: 30 S: 31 W: 11
SAT II: USH 770, taking Math II and Chemistry in June
AP:
9th grade: WHAP (4)
10th grade: APUSH(5), AP Euro (5)
Taking Chem, Econ, English Lang, and US Gov this year.

Senior Schedule: AP Biology, AP German, AP English Literature, AP Physics C, AP Calculus BC, 3D Crafts

ECs: I play club soccer at a regional level and high school soccer. I run varsity cross country. I have leadership in German Club. This does not look like much, but I put a lot of time into them.

Awards: I am an AP Scholar, hopefully receiving a higher award after this year's exams. I have also won a couple of German awards.

Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Hooks: First generation college student, potential athlete

I realize that my chances are quite low, but oh well. :(

I think the high stat standard on this site has intimidated you. You have great stats and the schools you’re applying to are not ivy (except Cornell), so I think you have a great shot. UIUC, UWisconsin – Madison, UMichigan – Ann Arbor, and UMinnesota – Twin Cities are your safeties/matches. While WUSTL, Northwestern, and Cornell are reaches. I hope you’ve written great essays and have good EC’s. Good Luck.

You should definitely be in for all of your state schools. The privates are difficult for everyone, but if you can improve your ACT score by a couple of points and write great essays, Cornell, Northwestern, and WUSTL could definitely come through.

Thanks for your opinions. Do I stand a fair chance at CMU or UChicago if I am recruited?

Anyone else?

Bumping this…

First off, what are you getting recruited for?

Soccer.

Your stats are good for CMU and UChicago, assuming you can get a point or two improvement on your ACT. As far as recruiting, in D3 some coaches have some pull with admissions, some have none. It depends on the school/sport. Obviously your academic stats have to be in the ballpark, which they are. They will expect you to apply EA and will want you to attend their summer camp. The coach should be able to tell you how much pull (s)he has with admissions.

Thank you! I’m retaking in June, and I’m really hoping for a 33… I am going to both camps this summer, and I went to one last year, which was positive.

Bumping this…

…Any other opinions?
