@lookingforward yes i am a US citizen, I never said anything about London. i lived in the Middle East up until 9th grade. i am a manager at my job because my family is broke. the raising 10k was when my family was back in the Middle East and my fam had a lot more money(before parents got divorced). in honor societies cuz really that’s all my school has got.
im a senior, and my GC has basically told me that I’m good to go. my class has more than 600kids graduating so my counselor didn’t have time to GUIDE me with my ECs - I moved to a public school when I moved to the US.
Makes more sense. You led with the Trinity College awards. It was not clear you’re in a public hs. I did understand the job. In itself, not a tip. But it adds to the picture of your determination and strengths.
It can matter where you are in VA, the competition for tippy tops being so high from TJ. But you seem empowered. Best wishes.
oh yeah! the trinity college of London held examinations at my school! i don’t go to TJ but the students from my school are white kids that i don’t think have the same circumstances as me!
i hope that my application as a whole shows my determination and empowerment… my essay I think is really good and shows that
Thank you @lookingforward
It’s the unfortunate fact that your app to tippy tops will be considered along with those from TJ, top preps, and other local hs. These colleges want geographic diversity.
Did you say you have safeties and matches, as well?
yep! @lookingforward — this chance me was just for some of the higher ones I applied for…
i applied to Stanford early for a slightly higher chance — my Stanford interview went incredibly well (I know that it potentially won’t make much of a difference, but he did tell me I would change the world) and I did talk to a Stanford dude who explained how I won’t necessarily be compared because of how different my essays and personal statements really are… so if stanford really looks at apps as a whole vs numbers I will hopefully have a higher chance!
Stanford looks for kids who match its self-vision. All top colleges do. You won’t be compared one to one with another applicant for a quantitive decision who’s “better.” You get your own review. But it’s against “what Stanford looks for.” That holistic approach. They may very well like your app. But we can’t predict.
@lookingforward i’ll keep everyone updated!! my interviewer also said that Stanford was a perfect match for me, so we can only hope!! thank you for your help!
i think its a little misleading sorry – its more of a government subsidized thing, so i’m a dual citizen (for privacy reasons won’t say the other country) but basically if i get into a top 20 school then they will pay for college
also i had a really quick question since you’re the UC champion @Gumbymom my capped UC gpa is a 4.23 or 4.19 i can’t remember… do you think that increases my chances? i applied to UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCI, and UCSB… but i am out of state
You should consider UCLA/UCB Reach schools due to their acceptance rate and a below average ACT score. There are still possible, but no way to know for sure.
UCD/UCI/UCSB look like Match schools.
Being OOS, most UC’s have a higher stat threshold but OOS admit rates are higher since most OOS students cannot afford the high costs of attending. If you are full pay, then you definitely have an advantage.
if the college I get into has the major I am admitted to ranked as a top 20 (so say something like business is my major, then if the school I go to is a top 20 for business they will pay… same with any other major)
also i have applied to so many schools that when the financial aid packages come in, that’s when a final decision is going to be made @SJ2727
