Chance me: Stanford REA, Columbia, UChicago, etc.

Hi there!

I am an Asian male attending one of the top schools in my state, top 100 across the country, interested in biochemistry.

UW GPA: 3.75, school doesn't rank
WGPA: 4.2+
SAT: N/A
ACT: 35
SAT II: 800 on Math2, 800 on Chemistry, 780 on Biology-E

APs taken: Bio, Chem, Chinese, Stats, Calculus BC, Psychology
APs senior year: Spanish, Literature, Physics!

Recs and letters probably great.

Chance me for: Stanford REA, Uchicago, Northwestern, Brown, UCSD,LA,B, Columbia, USC. Thank you!

Oops: ECs include national deca award wins, club presidencies, research internship, etc! basically great.

That 3.75 might hurt you for Stanford, Columbia, UofC, Brown. I think you’ll get in at the others for sure.

Stat-wise you should be fine for most schools, the 3.75, IMO, will not be a deal breaker. However your ECs seem a little underwhelming… Can you elaborate further?

Could you chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1662523-i-know-that-stanford-is-a-crapshoot-for-everybody-but-do-i-even-have-a-chance.html

I was being lazy when I posted it, haha.

Awards:
DECA Nationals First Place 1x
DECA States First Place 2x
State Finalist 4x (States probably don’t mean much because I’m not from a state that’s hugely into DECA - do you think colleges look at state awards in the context of that state?)
President’s Volunteer Service Award
A few random SciOly awards

ECs:
Internship at Stanford School of Medicine, working on embryonic development. Living on campus over summer because it’s so far T_T
Chapter President of school DECA
Chapter President of school Key Club, going for a district position!
JV Golf freshman year, Varsity every year after!
Volunteering, 300+ hours

@S2Stan‌, I’ll chance you back when I get home :)

Also, upward trend to 4.0 junior year! :)

speed bump!

You should be proud of your resume, but these schools are reaches for just about anyone

so make sure you have some safety schools! im from the east, so I have no idea about any of the UC’s except UCB and UCLA so i apologize

stanford: (maybe low) reach
U Chi: reach
NW: low reach
Brown: low reach
UCB: high match
Columbia: reach
USC: mid match

Im being extra critical, just to play it safe (but Im also not one of those bragging jerks that says no chance to everyone)

best of luck, chance me if you can

@brickthelegend‌ you really think stanford is a low reach with REA with my gpa? O; although admittedly without freshman year it’s a 3.88 but it still seems unrealistic :frowning: and I will look at your thread when I get back home and on a comp ^_^

@plasticdragons‌ im playing it very safe when giving these ratings. i dont want you to suffer the fate of someone i knew who overestimated himself and didnt get into any place good, and didnt have any worthwhile safety schools lined up

and low reach is good for my standards! especially for HYPSM

my scale goes:

best chance—>lowest chance

safety --> low match --> mid match --> high match --> low reach --> reach --> high reach

dont know if youre supposed to do it differently

oh, if youre saying that you think “low reach” is high,

well i think applying early shows a school real commitment, and that is the main reason why i considered low reach

but you are well rounded, impressive DECA stuff, so why not?

remember, a good portion of the people who post their resumes here on CC are the absolute cream of the crop. Those with great resumes will be more apt to share it with the eyes of the internet than those with mediocre ones. and who is stopping people from embellishing or even fabricating their resumes?

so keep your confidence up man, you got this.

I see, thanks! Any more opinions!
