Chance me-strong/all around applicant

@onlythebest13‌ @IxnayBob‌ but I am not doing CS or english. DOing biology so those wont help me

Start at honesty and spend some time there. I can only speak about Yale, where I’ve met a good number of my son’s classmates. You would stick out like a sore thumb.

I think a Yale Adcom would see through you in an instant.

@IxnayBob‌ @onlythebest13‌ im sorry LOL i would never do that in real life. that was just to see if it was worthwhile to do those activities. sorry for that i really didnt mean to trick you guys I;m not liek that in real life LOL chance me though ixnaybob?

@fu11rideschool‌ I understand lxnayBob’s concern, but honestly, no apology is necessary for me. I’m not upset that you wanted to see if these were worthwhile activities; I just wanted to verify that this wasn’t a ■■■■■ (i.e. those students who post that they are an URM in one thread and an Asian in the next thread lol).

I can’t chance you since the person you say you are IRL is so different from who you are on the internet. The internet you has 0 chance; I don’t know about the real you, but probably at best the single digit % at Yale and comparable schools that “qualified” candidates have.

Out of curiosity, is Chinese spoken at home?

no its not @IxnayBob‌ so ixnaybob you are going with under 10 percent?

Yes.

That’s a little harsh to me. Overlooking the OP’s previous posts, he obviously has a decent chance at Yale, at least in the double digits. USABO is pretty impressive and the piano shows dedication.

@onlythebest13, you might be right, but the typical Yale applicant isn’t chopped liver either. Good luck to all.

Thanks for the responses guys. Anyone else chance me? I’ll chance back :)

Frankly, I have a hard time getting past all the LOL and lol’s in your posts (lol). But anyway, what is your class rank? If your school doesn’t rank, what do you think it is approximately? Usually, an AO will make some sort of estimation of where you stand in the class if they can by looking at the school profile sheet or if they are familiar with the school and past applicants’ stats.

School does not rank i am top 10 percent though @Falcon1‌ CHance?

I haven’t met many teenage boys who use lol as often as you do. Also, it’s pretty amazing that you were able to raise your SAT scores so very significantly. Rather than focusing on “what may someday be” you should probably make some things happen for your own sake. And before you ask, 2% chance currently. In a year, who knows? :-)

The stuff you posted just one month ago (above) is radically different than what you posted in this thread. Not even the SAT I or SAT II scores are the same let alone the supposed EC’s. I give your chances a zero since you seem to be incapable of telling the truth. In all honesty, who knows if what you’re saying now about being a USABO semifinalist is complete fiction. Also, I find it humorous that in one month your number of years playing the piano went down by three years but you went up a level to CM10.

^^LOL

Okay, the last two posts were snarky on my part but you do seem to have a fertile imagination. Regarding your chances based upon your most recent profile, here are my opinions:

You are in one of the most competitive demographic brackets as you probably know. As such, you really need to closer to the top 1% in your class than to the top 10% to be a viable candidate.

Your piano will not likely count for anything since you don’t have any accomplishments on a state or national level so I would not list it first or make it the subject of your essays.

Your awards and test scores are good.

If you are in a top 5 public school why so few AP’s? I imagine that top kids in you school will have more than 4 AP’s through junior year.

Your leadership positions in both sets of posts are good.

Overall, I’d say your chances are around the overall acceptance rate.

@fu11rideschool: Based upon the above quote, to be a successful applicant to HYP, I would say you need to dial-back the bravado. If your teachers happen to write “Good student, but he’s really full of himself” I don’t think that’s going to win you admirers in the Admissions Office. If you haven’t already, please read the below thread, as everything in it pertains to Yale as much as Harvard: <a href=“Chance Threads - PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING ONE - Harvard University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1420290-chance-threads-please-read-before-posting-one-p1.html</a></p>

Quite honestly, after reading through this entire thread, I think OP is just pulling our leg and having some fun. There are just too many inconsistencies in the stats.

Would someone really do that?

Just chance based on the information please.
