Chance me for Yale/Harvard/Stanford/Brown?
I am only a junior so what else can i work on to drastically improve my chances? THanks so much guys!

USABO semifinalist is impressive, but what is this community biology group? Are we talking 30+ students gathered together, or you and your friends meeting up over summer to discuss biology? Also, what have you done in your nonprofit?

it is over 100 people in the community, also adults and we have activities that we do that involve biology. We have fundraisers for cystic fibrosis and go around schools talking about it. What are my chances? @onlythebest13

I would say 35-40% chance at Yale. Good luck :)

If it were me, and I’d be the first to admit I know nothing, but I would move ECs #2 and 3 to the bottom of the list, and move up the others. Do you have a compelling connection to cystic fibrosis, or was it a disease you pulled out of a hat?

You’re doing fine, but try to be genuine in your ECs.

@lxnayBob why? Ecs #2 and #3 seem like the strongest of the ECs to me, provided that she/he has a concrete reason why she/he chose this disease

For the ease of discussion, OP, are you male or female??

Asian male from california :(

And what’s your intended major? Biology?

Also, what happened to these ECs???

Created multiple IOS apps that have over 1000 downloads each
Wrote a book that sold over 5,000 copies over 10 months

Is this a ■■■■■?

@onlythebest13, yes, that’s why I asked about the connection to the disease. Otherwise, it’s another ho-hum bogus charity thing, and it being placed high diminishes the ECs below it.

IME, ECs that exist outside of the HS, especially if not arranged by parents or the HS, count the most, so I would move #4 up to #2 if it meets those criteria.

Those were ECs i was pondering to do and were prospective LOL these are the ones i have now that i accumulated over the summer

@fu11rideschool‌ How in the world were you even planning to write a book that would sell 5,000 copies or an IOS app that would have 1,000 downloads anyway??

@onlythebest13‌ i was gonna see if it was worthwhile to carry through i had both part done LOL

@fu11rideschool, so you were pondering to write and publish a book that would sell 5000 copies in 10 months? That’s very specific pondering for an unwritten book.

Slow news day?

@onlythebest13‌ @IxnayBob‌ any other ways/ECs i shold do to increase my chances/ or have more meaningful ECs?

Yes, @fu11rideschool, you will increase your chances by being honest, genuine, and not wasting people’s time by pondering on potential LOL ECs.

@IxnayBob‌ alright LOL that was just testing out the waters to see if it was worthwhile to do lol

@IxnayBob‌ sorry about that, but chance me? any tips for improvement other than honesty?

Created multiple IOS apps that have over 1000 downloads each
Wrote a book that sold over 5,000 copies over 10 months

^^^ would be VERY impressive ^^^

@lxnayBob My thoughts exactly! Also, that accomplishment would be nearly impossible for a high school student!

Now I feel bad for bashing the OP. OP, I’ll stick by my previous percentage.
