Chance me to make UCSD, USC, LMU, SCU, Cal Poly SLO, and all the other UCs

I'm a white male senior at a competitive high school in CA. I'm applying to civil engineering to all except UCSD (Structural engineering). I have 1930 SAT, 730 M 620 W 580 CR. 710 on Math II. 4.0 Weighted UC GPA and 3.7 UW UC GPA. Current classes are AP Calc BC, AP Gov/Econ, AP Physics C, Modern Lit, 3D Design. My ECs are Soccer Captain, Soccer Referee, Soccer Coach, MUN, and in a club called Leo's Lions club. I am going to retake the SAT though. Thank you in advance.

UCB/UCLA: Reach
USC/UCSD/SLO: Low Reach/High Match
UCI/UCSB/UCD: High Match
LMU/UCR/UCM/UCSC: Match

You look like a good applicant but if you can get your SAT up to 2000+, USC/UCSD/SLO could become matches.

Good Luck.

Get that SAT score up to be competitive for the UC’s. If you received your ELC letter, you should be okay, at minimum, for Merced and Riverside.
These are just my opinions based on my kids’ experiences, and where friends kids are attending:

USC, no, not with that SAT, soccer coaching and refereeing would get you looked at though.

UCSD, not with that SAT score, try to get it up over 2000.

Davis, not sure because of that SAT score.
Davis is becoming harder to get into. They have the pre-vet program and they have the medical school so they’re becoming very selective, although they do like soccer athletes so you might get some scholarship money for that. Go for it. If you’re into soccer, you will love their fields. It’s a HUGE beautiful green campus!

Santa Barbara, probably because of your EC’s and GPA.

Santa Cruz, yes especially with your EC’s.

Cal Poly, SLO would be better with a higher SAT score but probably because of your grades and EC’s. If you applied to Pomona, you would probably get in.

Loyola, yes via grades and EC’s

Santa Clara, yes via grades and EC’s. Again, the sports are a big draw for some of these private schools.

Riverside, yes,

Merced, definitely.

Just my opinion. Apply to the UC’s and CSU’s. Don’t forget to fill out the FAFSA after January 1, to make yourself eligible for those sports scholarships.

Cal Poly Engineering admission averages:

Avg GPA = 4.12
Avg SAT = 1406 (out of 1600)
Avg ACT = 32

<a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions;

Since you are under the average for both GPA and test score, it will be a low reach to reach for you.

UCB = high reach
UCSD = low reach to reach

UCB=UCLA=USC: reach

One of the earlier posts did not have USC on par with UCB and UCLA.

USC’s average unweighted gpa is 3.8 and SAT is about 2100 for admitted students.

Admit rate for UCB = 17.71%; USC = 19.84%; UCLA = 20.43% (per lastest US News & World Report).

So far I’ve made Santa Clara and LMU, still waiting back for every other college. Hope I can keep the 100% record!
