CHANCE ME to MIT (international student from Mexico)

I am an international student from Mexico. I know that international applicants have really low chances of getting in (about 3% acceptance rate), but I will still give it a try.
-4.13 W GPA, 4.0 UW
-SAT 1380 (790 math, 590 english) my score sucks
-TOEFL 98
-I self-studied for AP calc ab, AP bio, and AP macro ( I did really good on calc and bio and a 3+ on the macro)
-SAT II Math 2= 750+ Biology=700+
-I surf since I am in 7th grade and I do it every weekend of the year (besides when it gets really cold during winter)
-I do a lot of community service, specially in a place where I talk with people with bipolar disorder and help them, I do this because I have been through a lot of family issues because of my mom’s bipolar disorder and decided to overcome it by interacting with similar people to her
-I lived one year in the US (10th grade) and joined the archery team, we went to the state championship, I also did some community service
-Next year I will take AP calc bc, AP environmental science, AP micro, and AP spanish
-My essays and reccomendation letters are great (I’m 90% sure that the teachers that wrote the recommendation letters did them awesome)

I will take the SAT one more time and try my best to get a 1450, I already have almost perfect math score, just need to improve the english score about 50 points.
Being an international student I can send the TOEFL or the SAT I, but I think that I will send both so they can see that I did good on the TOEFL (they recommend a 90) and bad on the english portion of the SAT.

What are your thoughts? Thank you for reading!

I think its pretty good, but you need to fix that SAT bro

@abdulmalik123 yeah that’s my goal, thanks for the response btw

MIT is extremely competitive. The 25th percentile on CR is a 680 so a 590 is extremely low. You will need to work to bring up your test scores. Even then MIT is a high reach.

There are so many good schools in the US and MIT is only one school which rejects thousands of applicants.

You need to understand that you need to apply to more schools than MIT. If you can’t get that SAT score up, it is not just the admission part, but also the students level of performance in those courses. They are very capable of perfect scores in their classes. Will you always want to feel “behind”?

Usually your TOEFL has to be 100+

@123mom456 thank you! That’s the tough part, MIT is a high reach for everyone. @aunt bea thank you! I know, I will be applying to about 11 schools 2 of which are safety and like 3 or 4 are reach; however, MIT is my dream school!

Yes, your SAT will need to go up to be a competitive applicant. You’ve got a really interesting group of extracurriculars, though! And being an international student from Mexico will make you stand out.

What are you thinking of majoring in?

@newkidnewtrix thank you! I am thinking about biomedical engineering and finance
