Hey, I am a senior and I’m wondering where I stand for UCD and UCI
I have a unweighted capped UC GPA of 3.7, a weighted capped of 3.97 and fully weighted GPA of 4.18.
I have a 29 for the ACT
I am applying in state for a mathematics major.
ECs: National champion in ice hockey. Selected in USA’s Northwest and Southwest Regional Teams. Captain for 6 years. Numerous awards and honors in the sport.
Around 50 hours of hockey coaching volunteering.
Created a website, and did an interactive email development internship.
Created a charity tournament to raise equipment and resources due to the lack of funding.
Though my stats are on the lower side, I’m hoping my ECs and essays would have a big effect.
Thanks!
And I forgot to mention: the cause for the dip in my grades were because of a Torn ACL surgery which took an entire year to overcome, causing heavy depression and unmotivation as it was unlikely I’d be able to play hockey at a high level again. Additionally, with a passing in my family, I was unable to stay on course (although I’m reluctant in mentioning this in the UC app)
For the UC’s, GPA/test scores/HS course rigor and essays are Very Important. EC’s are considered Important but your overall application will be considered.
Did you address your injury in one of your personal insight essays?
What other schools did you apply? SAT Math 2 score?
I will post some UC statistical data and you can gauge your chances from this information.

I would say at around 50/50 with both schools a High Match/Low Reach based on academics.
Apply widely and make sure you have a couple of safety schools on your list. Best of luck.
your GPA is light for both of them. - so, 40/60 against You look like a match for UCR, UCM and perhaps UCSC.
Please also apply to a couple of CSUs (SDSU and CSULB maybe)so you have options
good luck
