you should be good for JHU, which was your ED choice anyway, so congrats!!

Statistical Match for most of your schools – meaning your stats match or are better than most of the incoming class. However, with the tiny acceptance rates at these schools, one can’t really say that you’re a lock at them. (Others say Furman is a safety – I know nothing about this school, so I take them at their word).

Any of the schools on your list – ED will be helpful. if JHU is your first choice, go for it.

Northwestern, Dartmouth, and Cornell are reaches. You seem solid for the rest. Unique ECs. Best of luck!

Thank you guys!!!

Oh, btw – IMO there is 35 ACT probably won’t make too much of a difference vs a 34. If you were my child I wouldn’t recommend retaking (in fact when my child did get a 34 on her first sitting of ACT, she decided it wasn’t worth it (and I agreed)-- She got into Northwestern (attends), Cornell, Wash U and Michigan (and a few others) with similar grades to yours).

UChicago- low reach
Cornell- reach
NW- low reach
JHU- high match
Vandy- high match
Emory- high match
Dartmouth- reach
Furman- safety/low match
UNC- high match

You have a good GPA and a great ACT score, so you stand a great chance at a majority of these schools. If you don’t get into JHU ED, another great school will be sure to take you. Best of luck.

Rough chances IMO. 1000 hours of community service don’t mean **** unless they have some meaning to them. Seems like you spread yourself out and don’t really have anything you love. What do you love to do? What subjects could you spend the rest of your life studying? I find it hard to create a distinct profile of you, which is what admissions officers will try to do.

Here’s what I think:

UChicago: Low reach (but your scores are looking really good for them)
Northwestern: High match
Cornell: Reach
JHU: Match, I think
Vandy: Low reach/high match (every time I see their admissions statistics, they’re different, so I can’t give you a definite answer on that one)
Emory: Match
Dartmouth: Reach
Furman: Safety
UNC: Matttttch :)

I think you’ve got a good net here! Nice :)

I spend 1000 hours of community service tutoring kids in Biology and Math in Downtown ATL. Now that I think about it, more like 1.5K plus, I am also a very avid (and very good) fencer and devote tons of time to that. not only that I am the lead for Mock Trial (which I love), also I am a peer leader (which is one of the best parts of going to school), + i have tons of Bio, Biochem, chem, Bio forensics classes…

You are a competitive candidate at the top schools, but you aren’t a shoo-in. So anything could happen, and given that these schools are extremely difficult to get into I would not expect admission to any of them, that’s all. Your top schools are reaches for all but amazingly qualified and hooked applicants, which you aren’t. Your school may be difficult, but your grades seem low and though you are certainly an accomplished person outside the classroom you need to ask yourself, what exactly makes you stand out from the thousands of qualified applicants vying for admission. That’s why you better hope the essays you write are very unique.
You are still a solid candidate for admission but keep in mind the single digit acceptance rates which will be even lower when you apply. This kind of chancing, especially by people who are asking for chances themselves is futile. All you need to know is that you are competitive for top schools but just like for nearly everyone else it will be very tough to get in.

Can I use fencing as my hook?

Also will the fact that I have 12 APs + national Merit not override a 3.76-3.8?
