So I'm very new to this site and I've never posted a thread before - but as a rising senior I've been more concerned with college matters than ever. I have my eyes on two - UGA and GSU, and although I have a pretty good feeling that GSU would accept me, I'd still like to see what you guys think. But I'm not sure about UGA and I'd really like to know if I could get in.

I'm Brazilian and I already live in GA.

Now for this year I'm predicting all A's, but I'm not sure about math. Maybe B's.

EC:

So what do you guys think??

Hmmmm…I’m pretty sure GSU would accept you too (the SAT is a little iffy for it to be a sure thing but you’re still in the middle 50%. GPA is great & you seem passionate about french).

You’d need a higher math SAT for UGA. (to be the middle 50%)
If you’re not against taking the SAT again, I’d give it a shot and really focus on math

So…
UGA: Low Reach
GSU: Low Match

are you interested in any other schools? (like Columbus State or West Georgia)

Oh, will you still have 4 years of math by the time you graduate? Cause I only see 2 and a half…or 3?

Yeah… I realized that I’d have to get better SAT scores, and it’s definitely something I’ll be working on this year.

To be honest I haven’t looked much at other schools, but I really do need to broaden my horizon on that, and fast. Before, I was sure that GSU was the college for me, but then I started to consider UGA as well because I felt that I could go higher with my grades and all.

Yes, luckily I will. I took an equivalent of Math 1 in Brazil, but it only counted as a half-credit here, so last semester I had to do half of Math 1 online. During Sophomore year I had Math 2 and next year I’ll have Math both semesters (3 and pre-calc).

Well if you retake, I think you’ll have a good shot.
And if you’re trying to stay in Georgia, West Georgia or University of Columbus may be worth a look if you really need a school to make you feel secure.

So you’re taking two math classes next year? I’ve got ya.

I see that I have a pretty good shot at West Georgia, but I’ve never had a proper look at it or at University of Columbus. New researches shall be conducted, haha.

Yes. Math year long will be painful since I’m not fond of it, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Yeah! If you just apply to UWG or Columbus State, it’ll probably make you a lot less stressed out. (But I’d visit to make sure you don’t hate 'em.)

I just hope the math thing works out, and you end up with all the credits and whatnot. I’d probably call up the colleges you’re in to so everything’s in order as far as math goes.

Haha yes I hope so too. But my wonderful counselor has long solved the math ordeal so I’m glad I don’t have to worry much about it! And those are two more colleges I will be adding to the list.

Thank you so much for your input!
