bumppp
please do chance me. helpp

I shall say that Notre Dame, Tufts, Northwestern, and possibly Vanderbilt are already out because your GPA is too low.

Also I want AP scores to chance you better, also a weighted GPA and your SAT is another thing that is way too low, so I don’t think you should even try applying to Notre Dame, Tufts, or Northwestern

are you there OP? You bumped your thread and have disappeared.

Some boarding schools practice pretty heavy grade deflation. Does yours? if so, these schools may all be in reach. Otherwise Williams, UChicago, Tufts, Northwestern are unlikely. Go ahead and apply if you love them, though, and don’t mind the application fee.

my school only offers max. 6 classes for students to take.
partly because that’s how the schedule works and because the classes are so hard.
they believe in “personal best” not so much “you should go to good college”
getting high GPA at my school is considerably hard in my opinion.

What about Wellesley, Barnard, and Mcgill?
Could you help me out with these schools?

The median SAT at McGill is 2060 and the median GPA is 3.7, so you would be a match there, but not guaranteed. Barnard and Wellesley would be low reaches.

I think you have a reasonable chance at all of them except Tufts, who seem to have their own unique ideas about admissions.

GPA: Good private boarding/day schools do a very good job relating their grading rigor to colleges. While many don’t provide ranks, they do make it clear if a 3.5 is “good” or not, (e.g. “our valedictorian graduated with a 3.7 this year”). Furthermore, their reputations are usually pretty well known among the type of schools you’re looking at.

SAT: Your 800s in Math and Biology are very impressive, your 610 in Critical Reading isn’t: are you taking the SATs again? Have you taken the ACT? A stronger CR score would go a long way toward supporting the rigor argument.

Your List: It wouldn’t shock me if you got into all the schools listed, but those are some fairly selective colleges, so I also wouldn’t be stunned if you got shutout from all as well. The issue is that I just don’t see a true safety school on the list. What is your home state? Maybe the state flagship? How about some small Midwest LACs: Denison, Kenyon, etc. Down South, Rollins or the University of Miami.

@vinceh her SAT is not going to cut Northwestern or UChicago either.

Her ECs are not focused, no clear strengths/passions?
SAT shud be 2k1 for all those schools above.

I agree that the OPs verbal scores are on the low end for a number of her schools, however, beyond the confines of CC 800s are still relatively rare items. To me the OP’s chances will depend on a couple of factors - the breakdown of her GPA and her intended major. Looking at her APs and her SATs I’m guessing she has very good grades in Math and Sciences courses, but doesn’t perform nearly as well in English/History classes. This could make her quite attractive to a number of schools if her intended track is in the math/sciences area. While her case would be much stronger if she could get her CR score closer to 700, I’ve met enough scientist to know that verbal skills are often secondary to compute power.

In my opinion her ECs are solid, combining the requisite athletics, volunteering and leadership - pretty typical for the average CCer. Women, while comprising the majority of the college population, are still underrepresented in the math, science and engineering fields, (e.g., see MIT’s admit rate for women, it’s more than twice that of men). If the OP is going to pursue the science/math track then I think she can present an acceptable case to all her schools with the exceptions of Wellesley and Barnard (who have significant female populations). I am not arguing that she is going to have an easy time of it, I just think we need some more detailed information before dismissing her chances because of a 610 CR.

thank you for feedbacks…i am waiting for my SAT score from June SAT…so hopefully my CR score will be better than 610…also, i think forgot to mention I am asian-american.

After talking to college alumnus, I got really interested to Wellesley’s science programs.
and also in my opinion, i think i would do better at all girls college considering my education in highschool and programs i’m planning to take. Do you think i have a good shot in Wellesley/ Barnard ED??

I’m Asian too, sadly it lowers your chances :frowning: sorry.

thank you everyone. more comments are welcome.
