demographic: white female from an upper-middle class family in the south, first generation college student
intended major: chemistry
act: 32 composite, 33 superscore
gpa: 3.68, unweighted. my school doesn’t report weighted gpas or class rank, but i go to a residential high school known to be especially rigorous.
extracurriculars: i’ve been heavily involved with student government as a class treasurer 10th grade, senator in 11th, and now a cabinet member in 12th focused on mental health activities. i founded the GSA at my first high school in 9th grade and have been involved with it ever since. i spent about a month at a local university shadowing two graduate students and their professor for a chemical research project. i also took a leading role organizing a statewide elementary-level math competition and tutor 3rd graders in math each week. it’s all part of an independent studies class i’ve been with since 2nd semester of last year.
rec. letters: i waived my right to read them, but i’m really confident in one, shaky on another because it’s from a teacher i admire but teaches a class i struggled in.
music supplement: i’m submitting a supplement playing various flute pieces selected by my school’s music teacher. i’m fairly confident in my playing and the pieces are within my playing level, but i hope that it doesn’t hurt my chances regardless. it’s difficult to say much about this lol
essays: i’m pretty happy with my essay, it goes into detail what my experience was being a leader helping to organize the math competition mentioned earlier because i had some issues growing up. but for the writing supplement, while I have lots and lots of reasons i want to go to wellesley, i almost have no idea where to start. is it basic or what’s wanted to pick a specific reason from the wellesley 100? can you cite reasons not on that list?
interview: i have an in-person interview in about a month, but while setting it up i’ve been really distant. i kind of have a horrible time keeping in touch with people i don’t see on a daily basis in my classes, so i’d go for weeks between emails. my interviewer is absolutely lovely and i kind of already adore her, but i’m worried i ruined my chances of a good report from her just from that. is there any way to salvage it?
i’m sorry if this is too much/too little information hahah. at the moment wellesley is my top choice (though i’m not applying ed), and i’m so nervous about this application, so just thank you if you read this (:
