Chance me

Hello all,

I was wondering what my chances would be to get into UIUC as a sophomore transfer into either DGS or Pre Teacher education. I attend a community college and currently have a gpa of approximately 3.58 and will have 32 credits by the end of the semester. Additionally, I am aware that ACT scores are not required if the student has 30 credits or above. Does that mean grades from high school are also less likely to be put into consideration?

Unclear on when you are applying. To avoid submitting ACT, you must have completed 30 hours at time of application. Thus, if you have already applied this semester to start next semester, you need submit SAT or ACT. If instead you are intending to apply early next semester for Fall 2013 then you do not. However, if that is the case you have an issue applying to DGS. DGS is simply a pathway to deciding on a major and thus is designed for freshman and sophomore students who then move on to another college at UIUC for junior year. As a result it gives high preference to transfer applicants who will have no more than 35 hours at time of transfer meaning at time they start at UIUC. If you will have 32 hours at end of this semester and are attending CC next semester when you apply to UIUC you will undoubtedly be out of the group to which preference is given for DGS and it will be better if you just attempt to apply directly into another college for a specific major.

As far as grades from high school are concerned, they will not have any real importance if you have 32 hours when you apply as college grades will control.
