Your weighted GPA is a bit on the low side. Your SAT is well into the average. Course rigor is there. EC’s are there. Work hard on your essay. Admittance is plausible.

You should be fine, as long as your overall transcripts don’t show too many Cs or any Ds on it. Your GPA is slightly below average but it’s not a huge deal given the number of AP/Honors classes you have taken.

Don’t listen to the person above about your essay. It will likely not even be read by anyone in admissions.

I didn’t say to not take it seriously. You should, as there is still a chance that it will be read and it will determine whether you are accepted or not.

However, the odds are very low. Admissions officers admit this all the time, that they often don’t have but a few seconds to make a decision for most applicants. They don’t have the time to read everyone’s essay- all they really are going to look at is your GPA, you classes, and your test scores. If you’re borderline you get pushed aside and looked at later. If not, your fate is decided right there.

FSU gets over 30,000 applications per year. The admissions staff do not have the time to go through every application with a fine-tooth comb. It’s not possible. That is why you shouldn’t really be too concerned about your essay. As long as you did it, you stuck to the guidelines, and it was coherent, that’s really all that will matter for a significant number of people.

Pasbal you seem very informed with FSU admissions. Your advice makes a lot of sense and I appreciate your solid input. Are you assocaited with FSU in any way or have you spoken with FSU admissions?

The only connection I have to the office of admissions is that I have a friend that works there (though she is not involved in the actual process of deciding admission for anyone) and I hear lots of stories and bits of information.

Aside from that I’m just an ex-undergrad/current grad student at FSU that’s been there, done that with admissions and has helped several friends get through the process as well throughout the last few years.

I’m not otherwise connected to FSU. They just have a lot of my money.
