Chances at getting in

I have a 3.73 weighted (=[) but should be applying with maybe a 3.9 weighted after I get some semester and online class grades in, with an 1170/1840 on the SAT, a 27 on the ACT, a 10 on both essays, and We The People: The Citizen and the Constitution competition Alumni status after going to the national competition (most probably aren't familiar with the competition but apparently its well respected amongst certain schools, especially FSU) and what should be a really decent essay. Although I wouldn't even normally try for FSU, someone in my school with pretty much no extra extracurriculars got in with a 3.8 weighted and an 1160. I'm also a Florida resident, I'm hispanic, and I'm a first generation college student, and I've heard those kinds of things can play a role in your admissions, so yeah, just putting it out there. So yeah, what are my chances? Thanks to anyone that responds. =]

It would really depend on the quality of your course work. Hopefully you applied early...the later you apply the more competitive it becomes.

My guess would be you've got a shot at Summer. Fall semester is questionable.

first of all welcome to the fsu board. your academic profile looks solid. your in the mid 50% range for both SAT and ACT. the GPA looks good, but be careful to calculate what your gpa would be with just "core academic" classes... no electives. this is what FSU looks at when they calculate your FSU gpa.

I would have said your chances were better if you had gotten in the application during by the first deadline. While I am no expert, it appears that the admissions standards get a bit tougher with each admission cycle.

I would encoirage you to apply. One thing is for sure. You certainly won't get in if you don't apply. I think you have a good chance. I would encourage you to call the admissions department and review this with them. they will give you a good sense of where you stand. The admissions department at fsu is very helpful.

I would also encourage you to apply for the summer C session which may help.

good luck and i hope you get in!

Being first-generation improves your chances at FSU. Apply early.

Good luck!

We're glad to have you join us on the CC!
If you had applied in the first round, I tend to think you would have been admitted. You have some definate pros in your favor: gpa and test scores look solid, first in family and ethnicity. The big con is the second round will be more competitive than the first, but it won't be nearly as brutal as third round (if they don't cut it short).
Apply ASAP! Get all your paperwork in!
Have you visited FSU? If not go, establish a relationship with an admissions' counselor so that you have someone on the inside pulling for you. Apply for summer, it may give you an edge by being a bit less competitive.

Good luck!
