Chance Me

Okay so, my Junior year went okay I think
For my 10-11 GPA , it is 3.17
My SAT CR and Math together is 970.
I recently took the ACT so scores are not out.
What would be my chances to get into

CSU Fullerton, San Fran State Univ. , San Jose State Univ., and CSU Northridge

with a major in Biology/Anthropology.

My Summer classes will be for June 2015-Aug 2015 :

Trig P (For Advancement)
Photography P

My Senior Year Classes will be:

Physics
Spanish 3P
BritishLit H
AP Civics/MicroEcon
Pre-Calc
Choir

Also, how will CSU’s look at senior grades ? I’m from Southern California and I think these school are non - local. What should I Improve on to get a better chance of getting into these colleges since my Junior Year has ended.

** Will SAT Subject Tests improve my chances of getting into these colleges?

Is your posted GPA, your CSU GPA? If not then, Calculate your CSU GPA: https://secure.csumentor.edu/planning/high_school/gpa_calculator.asp

All the Cal States (except SLO) use the Eligibility index to rank applicants based on their major.
Calculate your EI: (CSU GPA x800) + (SAT Math + CR).

So using your posted GPA of 3.17 and SAT score of 970, your EI is 3506.

SJSU is the only CSU that posts their EI thresholds for each major so you need an EI of 3000 for Anthropology and 3500 for Biology based on this years EI.

I would use these numbers to gauge your chances at the other schools. If you are at or above the thresholds, you are in good shape. Just remember that these EI’s will fluctuate yearly based on the applicant pool.
CSUF would be the most competitive Cal State from your list but SFSU/CSUN and SJSU look like decent matches.

Cal states to do accept SAT 2 subject tests. They are only recommended for the UC’s.

To improve your chances, retake the SAT unless ACT score is better.
Senior grades will not be considered in your admissions but summer classes will and some CSU’s will ask for Mid-year transcripts upon your acceptance (CSUF/SDSU).

Good Luck.
