chance me

Hi recently I applied to IU Bloomington and I was wondering what my chance were

Major: Management Information Systems

3.2 Unweighted GPA, I don’t know what is weighted

SAT: 1560
M:480
CR:480
W:600

Out of state
Essay: Very good
Teacher recs: Good

High School: Top 25 High Schools in the nation
AP’s:
-AP Computer Science
-AP Psychology
-AP US History
-AP Government & Politics

Honors:
-Global History

Resume: Tons of Extracurricular
-Over 1500 Community service hours
-I play 3 varsity sports
-Physics Departmental award

I’d say you have a good chance of getting in, although IU doesn’t value extracurriculars as much as GPA and test scores (especially GPA). Knowing your weighted GPA would really help

Based on your test scores and GPA, I’d say it’s a “maybe.” It’s going to depend on you class rank and how highly IU values the essays and teacher reqs. About 85% of the admits in 2014 had higher SAT scores and GPAs than yours. Your AP classes might help.

my high school doesn’t rank

they also just held my application and they want new test scores and my senior semester grades :frowning:

Try the ACT if you haven’t. I thought it was easier and did better than the SAT

980 cr+m is probably not gonna cut it.

Try the ACT. IU likes high ACT/SAT scores, and if you can do well on that - high 20s for ACT or above, it will help.

If you are intent on being in Indiana, you might also apply to Purdue; or IU-PU-I, in Indianapolis. Also, Ball State.

What other schools are you applying to?

What state are you in?
Why Indiana?

Can you afford the OOS tuition?

@BeeDAre

  • I applied to Butler University, Michigan State, CU,WPI,RIT, U of Alabama, UMASS-Amherst, Marquette, University of Rhode Island, U of Illinois- Urbana, University of Vermont

-Butler ( Accepted w/ 40k Scholarship)

  • Michigan State ( Accepted)
    -Alabama(Accepted)
-Penn State(Accepted to Altoona, alt campus)
  • New York
  • Indiana is my number 1 because I loved the campus and facilities when I went to visit this fall.
  • Yes I can afford OSS tuition
  • Side note: I have been in contact with my admissions counselor and I have told her that Indiana is my top choice
  • Also I did take the ACT this December

Congrats on the Butler scholarship! And on all of your acceptances so far!

Good luck on your IU app!

I’m an IU alumnus and yes, it is a beautiful campus and Bloomington is a wonderful town.
