Good EC’s, but that 3.1 GPA and <1300 SAT are really gonna sink your ship.
You should probably focus a bit less on your EC’s and a bit more on your academics.
@RMNiMiTz thanks for your response, do you think I have a shot at Baruch , considering their avg gpa is a 3.3 ? and any colleges that seem out of reach for me?
On prep scholar I apparently have a 92% chance of admission with a 3.1 gpa and 1300 sat
Are your parents saying that they’ll pay the costs of these $$$ privates or OOS PSU?
What are your parents saying? How much will they pay each year?
I think you’ll get into Seton Hall, but again, will your parents pay for Seton Hall?
They will pay for Seton Hall but my parents really want to see me @ Baruch
You will get into Montclair, Kean, NJIT, Baruch and seton hall No problem. What are you going to major in though? Syracuse and Penn State are very expensive out of state. Your best values ( I’m going through the same thought process as you as I’m a hs junior) are Ramapo and Rowan. You should add Stockton also and make TCNJ your top goal/reach. I have learned it’s very important to consider what your major is in a college search or whether you are going in undecided. Then shoot for the best school for the money and least amount of debt. My goal is to major in engineering and my stats are somewhat higher than yours. My number one choice to get in is Rowan because of their highly ranked and rising engineering programs. In my visits and research with my parents, I found TCNJ, Rowan and Ramapo to be a cut above in academics, class size, campus/dorm quality, student outcomes and cost/value. Without knowing your intended major, I would make TCNJ, Ramapo, Rowan, Stockton, Rutgers-Newark, NJIT and Montclair your list in that order. Why spend the extra money on Syracuse or penn state and go into deep debt?? I wouldn’t recommend Rutgers New Brunswick because of the size and buses. TCNJ is a reach for you but should be your top choice all around. Ramapo is getting more selective but you have a good shot. Ramapo’s reputation is rising academically and the campus is small but very nice. Good luck!
Rowan was nice too. Brand new dorms for freshman. New business and engineering facilities, small classes, you can walk everywhere on campus. It’s a great value.
Thank you so much @aspiringeng , and my major is going to Finance/ Acounting
@landon2800
I think you have a pretty good match with Baruch, but something like Penn State is a reach.
Finance or accounting? Ok then TCNJ , Ramapo and Rowan are great choices. Visit all of them. Penn State university park is a reach but they have other campuses. Stay in state and save the money.
@aspiringeng I will add TCNJ to my list , thank you so much for your help, but I really want to go to Baruch because if it’s business connections in NY , housing and everything combined is 20k , which is affordable
I only have a 22% chance of getting in to Baruch according to Prep Scholar …
@aspiringeng do you think I can get in to Baruch with this low % chance ? Is cuny Baruch that hard to get into
Prep scholar is like niche and cappex, it only counts people who register on the site. You’re far better off going to TCNJ, Ramapo or Rowan. Each is well regarded in your intended major. Baruch is easier to get into than each of them. You are way off in your cost estimate. You are out of state for Baruch. Also, if you decided to change majors, you are better off at the in state schools. Baruch is CUNY, much less selective. You need to research your schools the right wsy
@landon2800 where did you get your Baruch numbers? Their webisite says just tuition this year was just shy of $15,000 for OOS and room/board etc over $21k so you’re looking at about $36k per year.
