It depends on who else applies really. Academics matter the most. Your GPA is strong and your class rank is great. If you also have taken a rigorous course load, your chances are good. But, I’d retake the SAT as you are at the low end for Geneseo.

I took it 3x, this was my best. Im just a bad test taker. :frowning: What would you put my chances at though?

Good chance, more likely you’ll be accepted than not. To improve your chances try taking the ACT to see if you do better, apply early decision if you know it’s your first choice and make sure your senior year classes include honors and AP classes.

Retake the SAT to score a little higher and you should get in. Maybe the ACT too to be safe. I had a 95.4 GPA, was in the top 10% of my class, was in NHS, took APs junior & senior year, 1850 on old SAT 1250 on new. If I got in I don’t doubt you will. Good luck!

The middle 50th percentile range for the SAT for the class that entered in the fall of 2016 was 1190 – 1300 with 66% of all applicants accepted. You might want to take the October ACT as many students, including my daughter, found it far more user friendly. However, if you are the type of student who moves along methodically through standardized tests and rarely finishes then maybe the ACT is not for you. I think you are probably in, perhaps as a Spring admit, but 20 or 30 extra point on the SAT or a 26 on the ACT would probably seal the deal.

With a 97 GPA & #2 in your class, I would say you’re in. This might be a question for the group responding as a whole, but if you have a high GPA, some decent extracurricular’s but happen to be at the lower end of the SAT/ACT are you saying that Geneseo would not/may not accept an applicant? Does a low ACT/SAT sink the application? I thought they claimed to take a holistic approach and looked at all factors of the applicant? Thanks in advance for any comments & suggestions. I appreciate it!
