maybe if you wrote a kick butt personal statement.
your SAT’s are a bit too low. then again, my roommate got in with a 1500, so anything is possible.

she came in as an environmental science major. but changed it to psych.
minorities always have an advantage (im mexican american), so just keep your fingers crossed. that’s what i did. (:

^yknow, being mexican isn’t in itself going to help your acceptance. being mexican and having unique life experiences as a result of your environment, and then writing that into kickass personal statements, will help.

your UW GPA is pretty good, and i know ppl who have gotten in with lower SAT scores than you - provided that their personal statement and GPA are great.

To be admitted into UCLA or Berkeley as a Latino or African, all you need is a high class rank.

The admissions office hardly looks at your test scores or GPA at all. Compelling life experiences are not necessary. The admissions office doesn’t expect any applicants from underprivileged districts to know to go do community service or even take a SAT2 (thus the removal of the requirement).

We often use sub-CSU admission standards for them over here. There are accounts of people being rejected from every UC and CSUs that are accepted at UCLA or Berkeley. All they look for in these minority groups is potential, thus your class rank is so important.

my brother, wouldn’t SAT be a much better indicator of potential. being a big fish in a near ■■■■■■■■ pond doesn’t say much. i haven’t met any COMPLETE ■■■■■■ with a 2200+ SAT. imo SAT is the more accurate measurement
