Daughter, auto-admit. top 2%. ACT composite 35…4 years of marching band, tons of APs, Science fair awards etc., Applied to Cockrell in October. Honors, chemical engineering…Waiting…Just can’t understand why UT is so random…They seem to process OOS and non-auto-admit on a priority basis…The A&M admission process is much faster and decisive, I am sure they deal with as big a volume as UT.
A&M has a more competitive process for engineering. I am still waiting on aerospace engineering for Cockrell. Terrible rank (in state and really competitive school), 2090 SAT (1450 Composite), 790 Math level 2, Varsity football (all-state and all district academic), Internship for aerospace at Cockrell, rec letter from professor.
waiting…
@karjanr
Your daughter has amazing stats. Surprised you are waiting still, that too in-state. With all this, I am thinking that what admissions told me may be true. They said applications are split into batches and given to different group of people. Some could process faster and others take time. They evaluate essays too thoroughly. Depending upon which group got our application we get quick or delayed decision.
But what I could not understand in that approach is, how one group can decide admission on a candidate without knowing credentials of candidate waiting on other group? By this approach, it might be possible that a competitive candidate will not get admission but a moderate one can get, depending upon which group processes his/her application.
Anybody hear anything yet??!!!
@karjanr with those stats I would think that your daughter would have been admitted long ago.
My son mentioned yesterday that the valedictorian from his school was admitted to UT chem engineering a week after he applied. He did not know his stats though. This year almost everyone from his school who applied to engineering is still waiting…
@karjanr thanks for the info. I am getting more nervous as each day goes by!
Today my son got admitted into Chemical Engineering, his first choice. Good luck for people who are waiting still. It is matter of time.
Daughter admitted into Chem E, first choice…@midclassdad congrats to your son…Getting into Cockrell seems to have become progressively tougher over the years based on some of the rejections I have been hearing about…
@karjanr True. Some stories are unbelievable. Congrats to your daughter too.
got into aerospace engineering yesterday. hope to see some of you next year! hook 'em \m/
