I’m applying to the B.S Health Studies/DPT Program
92.404/100 Unweighted GPA
93.774/100 Weighted GPA
Applying Test Optional (my ACT is only a 29)
Did not take any AP classes but took a lot of Honors and College level courses
4 Years Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field
2 Years Variety Cross Country
Member of National Honors Society
80+ hours as an intern at 2 separate Physical Therapy Clinics plus a strong letter of rec from a Physical Therapist
100+ hours of volunteer work
One REALLY strong letter of rec from my College Anatomy teacher (definitely a 10/10, he let me read it), and I’d like to think another strong rec from my US History Honors teacher (prob a 7/10)
I’d like to think my Essays are good since I put a lot of time and effort into them, and also I’ve visited BU so I added that to my supplement.
Let me know what you guys think! Do I have a good chance of admission?
How are your science grades? The BS/DPT program is extremely competitive. Your GPA seems a bit low, but if you have strong (as in all As) grades in your science courses you may have a chance. Did you not take AP courses because they aren’t offered at your school or because you weren’t recommended for them? That could be an issue as well. Is your high school considered strong? Good luck!
It’s hard to say. You are a very good student and your EC’s line up well with your intended major. Where are you located? I ask because if you are from MA your chances will be lower (in my opinion) since so many kids from our area apply to BU (and Northeastern) - the competition is fierce as a result. Going EDII will help, of course. I assume you ran the NPC and BU is affordable for your family. If not, you should do so.
Well honesty I choose not to take APs and took dual enrollment courses instead so I could use them for college credits. Now I realized that may have been a mistake, but both college and AP level courses have the same weight in my school. My science grades have all been strong (All above A-), but the only class I got a relatively low grade in was Chem Honors, in which I got a B+.
