Chance of being Accepted?

Sorry if this question is asked a lot around here, but I just submitted my application a few days ago and I'm extremely nervous on what their decision will be.

GPA: 3.5 Unweighted
ACT: 24 (25 if they Superscore, which I don't believe they do?)
I have about two ECs I listed on my application. I didn't have any others because I've been in Middle College since my Junior year and we don't have sports, clubs, etc.
However, I do have a ton of volunteer hours. A little over 72hours worth.
As for my grades throughout high school, mostly A's and B's. I've only had 2 Cs.

And yeah.. If there's anything else you need to know to help me out, just let me know.

Thanks!

Also - I feel like I’ve applied a little late, since after reading around a bit, a lot of you applied around September. Would there even be any room left this late?

Honestly…it can be very up in the air. Did you apply for Summer or Fall? For summer, you stand a much better chance-fall may be a reach, though, so it all depends. Also, the community service hours don’t really make much of an impact-usually at small, private, selective schools. I had 800 hours, and that wasn’t a deciding factor, in the least. At a school this big, they have to pay the most attention to GPA and Scores. You did apply late in the game-many individuals have been accepted and know we’re they’re attending. Have you taken AP classes? Dual enrollment? IB? Really, it can be a very 50/50 shot. If you had applied earlier, you’d be in for summer, easily. But since it’s late in the game, that could be a factor. Sorry if this is too blunt-just trying to be honest. I hope you get in, though! You still have a pretty good chance!:)

I applied for Fall. Summer wouldn’t work out too well with me since I’m an out-of-state student, and I don’t want to feel “rushed” making my way down there if they accept me. Since I’m in Middle College, we don’t have AP classes or anything, but dual enrollment - definitely. I’ll have about 18 credits by the time I graduate this May.

I would have applied earlier, but last year I had an idea of what I wanted to major in, and then I changed it the last minute. And when I found out that the school’s I got accepted into didn’t offer my major, I thought I’d give another look at UCF and went ahead and finished my application last week. I’m just hoping there’s space left now!

And thank you for the reply! I appreciate it :)

You’re an out of state student-you need to do summer term, I kid you not. It’s not a good excuse! lol. I am also an out of state student, and am so grateful I did summer term. It was exactly what someone NOT from Florida should do. It’s makes that college transition so much easier, and prepares you more. You won’t be rushed, don’t worry. You get to start off a GPA. You also need to take 9 credits over the summer, anyway, you may as well get it done at the perfect time. Don’t worry, there’s 60,000 students enrolled at UCF-there’s space left. Honestly, I would message them and change your term to summer term. I’m sure you’d hear back very soon, probably with an acceptance. Again, like I said, summer term is perfect for you. I’m from Chicago, so…a LONG way away. It was the best decision I made in college, so far!:)

I applied in November and they got everything around Mid-December.
They gave me a decision a couple of weeks ago.

They offered me to go to Summer and then continue on to Fall. I was iffy about it, but I accepted the offer (I just accepted the offer, not fully enrolled).

I would say that, if you really want to go to this school, and they offer you to do the summer term, go for it.
I’m 99% sure I’ll be going to UCF for college, and yeah, it would stink having to go straight to college after high school, but this way, you’ll get to know the school before others arrive. You can familiarize yourself with the school.
I know if I do go here, I’d end up leaving a few days after my graduation and starting about a week after. I’m going to feel rushed, no doubt (in fact, I feel somewhat rushed just thinking about it) but from what I’ve heard, summer isn’t too bad. It can be really great!

@WRITEfluidity, I guess I’ll consider the summer term if it’s my only chance of really getting in, but for right now I want to see their decision for accepting me into Fall. But, if you’re from Chicago, how did you get everything ready in time to make it down there before classes started? I’m in TN (so yeah, a bit closer to FL), and my graduation is May 23rd. The only problem is that I’ll have family here for it, and I have no idea how long they plan on staying. And I’m guessing classes for the summer term start about the first week of June? (No idea…), so I’d only have about a week to pack up and make my way down there. Hmmm… I don’t know how I’d handle this lol. But if you’ve done it before, please share how you made it work with so little time!

@timeb0mb Yeah that’s exactly how I feel. And the summer term is so much shorter, so everything (tests, midterms, finals, etc) in every class is going to be crammed, right? There’s still a few months to go… hopefully I can figure this out!

For now - I’ll hold out and see if they accept me for the fall term. And if not, then I guess I could email them and see if they could reconsider me for summer? (if it’s not too late by then)

I originally applied for fall term, and if you don’t get in for fall, I think they would offer you to do summer- which is what they did for me. If not, then I would ask them to reconsider for summer.
It will feel somewhat like you’re cramming, but for a few classes here and there, I’m sure it’s manageable.

Good luck!

Thank you!

–

I also had another question, if anybody can help me out (If not, I’ll call the admissions office tomorrow). But anyway - I logged on and saw that they just received my high school transcript today. But now they’re asking for my transcript from Austin Peay (which wasn’t listed before). Is it necessary for that to be sent to them, even though I’m not a transfer? It’s just dual enrollment.

I mean, I already went in and requested for my APSU transcript to be sent to them, but I thought it wouldn’t be considered when they review my application and make their decision?

There’s really not that much to get together. I found out of my acceptance at the end of February last year, and was thinking that same as you-how will I get everything in time? Your first goal would be applying for summer classes, which would be fine. You would take two classes, of your choice. Then, apply for housing (I suggest Nike/Hercules housing, I’m here now and love it!) then, it depends on transportation. Would you make the drive down, or fly? We flew, because I had so many items with me. The drive honestly wasn’t that bad-24 hour car ride, got to see a lot of states, so it was cool! If you fly, you can wait to buy all your dorm items in Orlando, rent a car, and drive to campus after the airport and a target run (there’s a target at the Waterford lakes town center, about 2 minutes off campus. It has everything you could need…literally). It’s really that simple. There was two of us (Twins attending the same school) and we got it done in time, with many weeks to spare. Classes would start on June 21st, and end August 3rd, when you’d come home, enjoy some time, and move back it on the 17th or 18th for Fall term. I had my graduation on May 23rd. Trust me, there’s plenty of time. Literally all I packed was all my clothes, and that took about two hours…being a girl, it will take you a shorter amount of time. We also packed away bedding. We bought all my other dorms supplies (Towels, Lamps, Microwave, Fridge, etc) when we got down here in Orlando. Trust me, it’s actually easy:)

E-mail Dr. Chavis and Mrs. Costello. I e-mailed them and it helped me get in.

elizabeth.costello@ucf.edu

Gordon.Chavis@ucf.edu

For Costello just ask for updates on your transcripts etc.

@WRITEfluidity, Ah if the summer term doesn’t start till June 21st, then I guess that could work. I’m also looking into the Rosen apartments at the moment. Do you know anything about them?

@sybersam I actually just called today to make sure they had all that they needed from me, because Mr. Thompson had emailed me saying my transcript was “wrong”. I have no idea how it would be… but the lady I talked to on the phone said they had all they needed.

As for Dr. Chavis, what did you email him to help you get in? I’ve seen some people just email him and tell him a little about themselves, and what they want to do with their life, but I don’t want to come off as the same as all the others in a way, lol.

@JustinM95
My friend helped write the email so yeah basically I/we wrote why I wanted to go, my friend got in within 2 days after emailing Chavis. I got in when I emailed Costello and she referred me to Richardson, which then led me to get in. Even if your questions have been answered, email to let them review your application. Good luck!

Ah ok, Thanks! I’ll email him here in a few and see how it goes. I just need to figure out what all to say.

I want to go to UCF to major in Hospitality. I know that part, lol.

I actually find it funny the other poster mentioned those names for emailing. Last year, I emailed one of those individuals while waiting for a decision-I was accepted a couple days later. If you email them, it should only be under the, for lack of a better word, ‘Desperate’ basis. You love UCF, you’d do anything to attend, you’ll go no where else. Explain to them how their school is your only choice, simple as that (If it’s ). It does wonders:)

I just emailed Dr. Chavis the other night, and Mrs. Costello a few hours ago. Hoping for the best :)

Classes start on June 24th …just fyi

@Joshua850 Thanks

I’m so confused. I’ve been emailing Mr. Thompson for the past week or so about my transcripts, and he’s been telling me that it only shows up to my Junior year. I checked with my school, and she showed me a copy of what was sent to them, and it has EVERYTHING from this year on it.

Mr. Thompson said they could still make a decision without it, but I don’t want there to be a possibility of me getting rejected just because they don’t have every single score thus far…

It’s frustrating me so much because I don’t know exactly what he’s seeing vs what I’m being shown…

Nevermind ^

Just logged onto MyUCF and noticed I got accepted for the Summer term!
